The problem with using injuries as an excuse though is so much of it was to be expected. You'll have your fluke injuries that are simply not avoidable, however lets look at some of these names....

Zach Martin - Aging player, and has been low key injury prone (or at least banged up prone) since 2020 only playing 1 full season.

Dak Prescott - Injury prone player who has only 1 full season without missing time since 2020....They also went with a high gamble risk on the OL this season

DLaw - Has been a high injury risk most of his career

Diggs - 1st year coming back from ACL injury - 1st year back from those comes with a high risk of reinjury or alternate injury from compensating.

Lamb - This one is a little more of a stretch but you cant just feed your #1 WR 180+ targets a year ago, 150+ targets this year plus 15 or so rushes for him and expect him not to get banged up. Not addressing the #2 WR position is an issue for several reasons, but causing excess wear and tear on your top guy is one of them

Overshown - yeah this one was one of those freak injury situations, but its still an undersized player at LB coming off an ACL injury which already comes with a higher than normal risk of reinjury.

A lot of the "bad luck" Stephen always wants to talk about stems from the fact that he hasnt been willing to put together a complete football team for several years now.

Okay, I am not going to sit here and claim injuries did not hurt the Cowboys. Of course they did. Not having Bland, then losing Diggs, we saw QBs take advantage of some of the young CBs. Losing Sam Williams then DLaw and Micah Parsons had to take something away from the defense. Even Overshown getting hurt took something away. Clearly, Zack Martin having such a bad year hurt too. Was that due to injuries?

But, the DT rotation, and the RB situation were not because of injuries. It was purely because of the front office thinking stupidly they could get away with Rico Dowdle and Zeke Elliott instead of any one of the FA RB available last year.

It's hard to believe there isn't someone in the room who goes "Guys, we think this every year and it never works out. Let's do something different."

But maybe they're not allowed to speak.
Yeah, those guys get fired.

Should NFL teams be managing their rosters based on no injuries?

At some point you do have to consider that you can't overcome every single injury, but there should be some risk management for injuries.

The problem with this interview is he is only talking about the W-L record or in this case the symptom.

It may be a better exercise to consider the root cause. That may lead him to look at the team's off season activity.

I think his binoculars are focused on the wrong thing.

For real lol…

And JJ makes it worse with all his “man in the mirror” BS lol

Guess this is what he sees when he “looks” at himself:

A Jones will never admit to a mistake publicly even if they know they're wrong. All we could hope for is they learned from their mistake and don't do the same thing.
