Stephen feels good about the offseason: It really came together good for us

It’s not surprising that some here expect the super bowl to have already been won.

He said the team has had a good off season. Only someone without any football sense would not see this has been the best odd season in years.
True. We're likey going to the player offs, players.

Honestly, I feel really good about that.

We can't let up on that. We can't ever give the Jones's and the rest of the league the impression that selfish, narcistic and totally unqualified owners make acceptable GMs. Fans deserve better than the untalented, meager, limited efforts of this arrogant family.

"...the offseason really CAME together good for us." So, are they done? While I like what they have done so far, it's simply not enough.
It is a start.
Usually the off-season is dreadful and we draft projects like Mazi.
Blokes, we seem to have, at last, turned the corner.

lol ... oh the Jones feel good now about the offseason, but were prepared to ask McCarthy to return (on their terms) we'd be set to stay with the same crummy HC, play calling, play designs and dull demeanor .....:muttley:

Why was it lame duck?

Because this FO intentionally did nothing in a childlike tantrum manner to prove a point to the HC.

Who then left.

You thought Zeke was a good pickup. You’re delusional about this team. I’ll see you back on here after the nice 11 game gauntlet of playoff teams when they are officially eliminated from contention and listen to you speak about the next great off season.
Lame duck was doing nothing and letting the coaching staff go while improving draft position and saving money to spend this year. This was a good offseason any way you slice it.

Has it?

According to who?

Football intelligence you say.

We hired another first time head coach who hasn’t commanded a top 5 offense in his career as an OC.

Now he’s getting the biggest coaching job in sports. Lol.

Go get a room with Stephen. Yall are made for eachother
Pretty stupid to think this offseason wasn't good.

All the guys that didnt play? Dak? He played.

Who didnt play last year? What is this neppo baby talking about?
Stephen Jones only has about 3 or 4 generic talking points that can be used interchangeably by just filling in the blanks.
  • “We feel good about _____ this year because ____.”
  • “We are always trying to improve our team; so we will take a look at _______ (player) and see what might happen.”
  • “Certainly when you look at ______, the salary cap, and ____ we will always _____ and _____.”
Two of the key phrases in the Stephen Jones meaningless word salad: The words “always” and “certainly”.

Stephen Jones speaks with better syntax and sequenced sentences than his old man but when you really look at his statements he says almost nothing. He’s more generic and bland than a guy running for office.

Nepo Boy has none of the charm of Daddy and really thinks he is the smartest guy in the room.

Stephen loves to pepper us with words of encouragement. ;)
Here's hoping it doesn't fall upon deaf ears for a change!

Suffice it to say that true competitiveness might be welcomed.

Yeah I’m trying to come up with some names as well.
Didn't take him to mean "didn't play at all last year," but that for a significant number of games, players that were out. Maybe that's just me.

This might help shake the cobwebs loose...

So is he speaking as though they're done and there'll be no second trade they were talking about?
So, are they done?
When we open Machota's article, we find this quote... “We’re never done,” he said. “I think I’ve said it forever, 365 days a year is player acquisition. Certainly if we see something that improves our football team, we’d make a move.”

They shot their wad with the Pickens deal. They get that 7 year itch like they did last time they aquired Amari Cooper

We all need to remind Stephen of this if the Cowboys finish 3rd in the division this year.
......as well as reminding some here that agree with Stephen and Jerry's assertion.

We've been doing this almost every year now but the same people still make the same claims, lol

Meanwhile, is Pickens constantly brought up in the 'best receivers in the NFL' conversations?

I did a quick Google search of top 10 NFL receivers for 2025 and didn't see his name mentioned once. So I have to ask, what was so great about acquiring Pickens? When the trade was announced I honestly said "who is this". Who does he play for? The top receivers in the NFL are household name - Lamb, Chase, etc. But Pickens? Once I saw he played for Pittsburgh I said 'oh yeah, now I remember'.

Why is everyone (mainly the homers and Jerry apologists) touting this as the best offseason Jerry and Stephen have had simply for bringing in a receiver who isn't recognized as a top receiver in NFL circles? He's so unremarkable he's #42 on this list. 42...... https://www.thescore.com/nflfan/news/3181658

Last offseason was really bad. This offseason has been less bad. I wouldn't call it great though by any stretch. The only major acquisition is WR2. That's to a team that was struggling mightily even before Dak was hurt.

It's just hope. We looked like garbage against the Saints last year. Then garbage for most of the game against the Ravens. Who was injured? We're now hoping Pickens and the draft can make a difference. It could, who knows. No one expected 2014 or 2016.
