Why is Stephen announcing to the world that Dallas will target a CB at 60?
Lunacy.

Let the board come to you, and evaluate the long-term investment of selecting a quality player, regardless of a perceived need.
If a highly rated OT is there, or a versatile 3-down LB, or another impact pressure DL, pull the trigger on those players.

You set yourself up for reaching for a position when the value is not there.

I don't think this is actually a club secret:

1. Dallas lost most of its cornerbacks in free agency.
2. The strength of this draft is in the secondary.
3. The Cowboys bypassed taking a corner in the first.

If other clubs can't guess the Cowboys are targeting a corner in the second, they wouldn't be able to spell cat if you spotted them the "c" and the "a". ;)

Cowboys VP Stephen Jones on @1053thefan said Taco Charlton is "a little more finished product" than DeMarcus Lawrence was when drafted
Stephen Jones when asked about Taco Charlton marketing opportunities, mentioned veteran OT Byron Bell: "Taco is going to go against Bell."

#Cowboys publicly spinning to make their 'last 1st-Rd grade' sound like a RB. Why? Snuffs out some media/fans Taco v King debate.

Every team pretty much knows what the other teams are targeting in the draft. Of course, the Cowboys are targeting CBs after Carr and Claiborne left. Just because you target a certain position doesn't mean you are locked into that position for good. Take a look at what is available and what may be available in later rounds and compare to your needs. Try to stick with BPA but be flexible. Try to fill a need but be flexible.

It is bad enough our own fans are going overboard with the jokes, now the owner's son is getting in on the act.

Really not a fan of that logic for Watt vs Taco but I still like we added another rusher
My thing is for me there is a reason why Watt fell.I know people like the finesse speed rushers but with Taco you get a guy with size, power, and athleticism.. If he hits then this is a guy who plays all 3 downs. He already has a couple pass rush moves. rip stab move and a spin move. He can cause havoc in the run game as well as the pass. With Watt you need to be in a 3-4 scheme and have him as an edge rusher. I don't see him being a 4-3 end. To do so he would have to fill out his frame which we ain't got time to wait on. He isn't as good in the run game as Taco is right now.Taco already has NFL size. He just needs to consistency and Rod is the perfect coach to drill that into him because of his marine background. I see why they went with him and I'm glad they did. This guy is a one year starter but he still has room to grow. He needs the experience of starting.

The guy is not a WDE but a SDE. His athleticism if fine there. He does get off the snap well to exceptional looking at the film. I have no problem with the pick now although I had to give it some thought. They picked him where he was slotted so they didn't reach. I don't think they overlooked other higher rated players at other positions except the one mentioned.

This club has a massive need for DL and DB help. I have changed my position on LB and think they are good there. This was a solid pick for a player who should get high single to low double digit sacks and apply good pressure.

I see his upside as another Greg Ellis or Jim Jeffcoat.

Well, they did take Tank later, even after the trade up.

fwiw, I didn't like that trade at all.

FWIW looks like you were right. Be real surprised if he is on the roster in 2018.

No one on our DL plays all three downs, and for the same reason starter doesn't mean much. I'd still rather have Taco than Watt.

Can someone please point me to this big debate the fans and media are having over Kevin King versus Taco Charlton?

If Fisher says it's true, it must be.
