On @1053thefan, Stephen Jones says that Dez Bryant will get up to speed soon enough and start making Dez plays.
personnel is set. It's all about the team making plays.
Matt Cassel did a good job not turning the ball over against the #Seahawks. Still needs improvement.
#Romo is feeling a lot better and will work him into 7-on-7 throwing drills.
Romo can start to work himself back into practice, but he will be available to play post-Tampa Bay.
the goal is to get #Romo back for the #Dolphins game.
they'll ease Tony Romo back in with some 7-on-7 work. "Certainly feel like he's right on time."
"There's a reason they make 20 (million) and Matt Cassel makes a million and a half" - Stephen Jones on recent losses.
every team in the NFC East right now is struggling. So, the #Cowboys are technically still in it.
Randy Gregory is not 100 percent. He's still struggling with his high ankle sprain.

"I don't think he would have been able to return any sooner" - Stephen Jones saying don't regret IR designated to return with Romo.
"Those high ankle sprains are tricky. Give Randy credit he's tough. It's still biting on him some" - Stephen Jones on Gregory limited snaps

Jones says #Cowboys "haven't ruled anything out" with #NFL trade deadline approaching.

Stephen Jones: Randy Gregory is still battling back from ankle injury. Getting better every week but limiting him to pass rushing situations

Great job Cassel for not turning the ball over. Is that what we've come too? He did a good job for not turning it over. Stephen is more irritating than Jerry to me.

I guess you missed the part where it says 'Still needs improvement'. Nice job of picking out what YOU wanted from what Stephen said. Let's include EVERYTHING that he said and not what you want to see.

Does the NFL have a loaner program where we can trade for a good back up for 2-3 weeks, the other team can keep Weeden and Cassel for the 3 week loan. I'd even throw in a 7th rounder (if we have one left) for next year - Just for 3 weeks of a serviceable back up QB, I'm sick of watching this crap there throwing out on the field.

You know how it is. Can't really get upset about Stephen saying Cassel did a good job of not turning the ball over but needs to improve. Doesn't really fit the "This front office is is incompetent" belief that is running rapid around here.

I am not upset with Stephen for the above quote, but the fact that we had to trade for a backup QB during a season because the one we had was no good, does not exactly scream competence either.....

In my opinion, they knew what we had at backup QB and gambled that the backup would not be needed during the season. They gambled and lost, doubled down with Cassel and lost again. THAT is what they are fully deserving of criticism for.

Don't forget not having any depth at WR to start the year either.

While I do agree with you on WR depth, I honestly wonder if the team has been able to really see how the backup WRs perform for an extended duration without Dez until this season.

I disagree. I think being incompetent would be you just sticking it out with Weeden because you invested money in him even if it was minimal. They traded for Cassel for insurance just in case Weeden sucked. And he did. Cassel has too. But in hindsight, I wonder how realistic was it to expect for a quarterback to come in off the street and be able to run a offense when the guy before him couldn't do it.

I think they like Weeden. Someone sold Weeden to Jerry. Not sure if it was Garrett or McClay or Stephen. And I get it. If you watch clips of Weeden there's a lot to like. But what's not measured in game film is his heart and his IQ and its not evident when he's on the field. They gambled on Weeden and they failed. Gambled on Cassel and failed. I won't knock them for failing. They had a plan and it didn't work. It happens.

They didn't because I know going into this season I didn't think we lacked any receivers. I thought we had decent depth there. I knew it was basically Dez and a bunch of #3's but these guys haven't even been playing like #3's.

Completely agree that sticking with Weeden would be incompetent, but having to trade for a QB during a season is an indictment of whatever process/logic was used to select the incumbent backup. I applaud them for making a move in an attempt to save the season. I guess it remains to be seen whether it will actually save the season although it is not looking good atm.

You are correct in that "it happens" but if we go into next season without a better backup plan in place knowing what we know right then there will be worse words than "incompetent" being thrown around. And it will be deserved in my opinion.
