He's a cool cat ...check out the Igor assessment...
"Jerry Jones explained his decision to Terrell Owens using a table cloth and a black pen.
The Cowboys owner drew a line and wrote both men's names on each side. He then told Owens that he felt he gave him 100 percent and vice versa, which the receiver agreed with.
Then Jones drew an arch over both names and wrote "Dallas Cowboys".
"Unfortunately we have this bigger thing up here," Jones said. "Unfortunately I've got to make the decision for what's right for something a lot bigger than you, a lot bigger than me, and a lot bigger than our relationship. It's time for us to part ways business wise."
Owens' agent, Drew Rosenhaus, immediately stepped in and tried to find a different solution during the meeting last week in South Florida.
"I've agonized for two months over this decision," Jones said. "I've made up my mind. Let's shake hands and move forward."
Cowboys vice president Stephen Jones recounted the meeting to an audience on Tuesday evening at a UT-Arlington Business Week Executive Dinner.
When asked if the decision to release Owens had more to do with his age or locker room disruption, Stephen Jones said, "You can't point to one reason. You take the whole picture and make the decision. It's [salary] cap. It's health. It's age. His production. It's everything."
When asked if the decision to sign Owens three years ago was worth it, he said it was.
"We won a lot of games with him," he said.
Stephen Jones discussed all of the Cowboys' off-season moves to date, and looked forward to the draft:
Jones put his thumb and forefinger maybe an inch apart to explain the differences the coaching staff explained to him between defensive ends Chris Canty and Igor Olshansky."
The Cowboys lost Canty in free agency and signed Olshansky as his replacement. Jones would not say Olshansky would start, but it’s expected he will.
The team got no takers on trading safety Roy Williams.
"With what we are trying to do with our safeties he didn’t fit," Jones said.
The addition of free agent safety Gerald Sensabaugh on Tuesday means the Cowboys will likely not move Orlando Scandrick to safety.
Jones said the team plans to move Alan Ball from corner to safety.
Jones said the team wants to address the safety position as well as linebackers, quarterback and reserve offensive linemen in the draft.
He did not rule out re-signing free agent Keith Davis. If Davis returns, it will likely be at a veteran minimum.
The team is still negotiating with linebacker DeMarcus Ware, but "I’m terrible on speculating on when things will get done," Jones said.
