There have been many.

Montana, Brees, Farve, Marino, Warner, Fouts, Esiason, Moon, and several quality QBs that weren't stars.

On the other hand, the number of first-round QB busts is endless.

Now count how many qbs drafted after the 1st round went on to sign 2nd contracts with.....anyone.

Mariotta. History will prove me correct: Take a look at Jameis's fat face. Now, envision him in 2 years when he is 340 pounds a la JaMarcus Russell, with maybe a felony and a couple of misdemeanors, and Mariotta doing a good, efficient, consistent job of QBing.

If the Bucs take Winston they will regret it. Any body who take Winston will regret it.
Mariotta on the other hand won't take the NFL by storm but will last a lot longer in it than Jameis "Crab legs" Winston.
take it to the bank.

Two words.... Purple Drank. Lol

in the last 20 years - the true modern passing era- you have Brady, Romo, warner. favre was just before that so you have a total of say 4 in 25 years. Out of how many taken after the first round? HUNDREDS.

If we draft a QB I wouldn't mind either the Colorado State QB or the Oregon State QB. Other than that I don't see any of the QBs playing much in the NFL level.

Three QB's drafted in the first round of a regular draft:

Don Meredith

Craig Morton

Troy Aikman

All three were starters in at least two NFL championship games.

Incidentally.,....

Stephen McGee never threw an INT in regulation play in his entire NFL career.

He is one of only two QB's in NFL history not to throw an INT in his first 80 NFL passes. The other was Tom Brady.

He leads all QB's in NFL history in passer rating during the final two minutes of the 4th quarter.

In his first NFL action he almost brought the Cowboys to a come from behind victory but the kicker missed an extra point, the margin of victory.

The following week, in his first start, he brought the Cowboys to a come from behind victory. They won by a single point.

I think they should have kept him one more season, just saying.
