Stephen McGee

Yeah I am. Go on the Saints, Colts, Chargers, and Packers forum. There's never backup QB discussions and here McGee is talked about to death. There's no shortage of constant articles on the guy also. You'd think he's an all time Cowboy great with how much he's discussed. :laugh2:

Thanks for answering my question about the McGee obsession. It was informative and enlightening.

I'm not looking for an argument. I seriously curious about the obsession with McGee on both the forum and the media. If asking about why there is so much constant attention given to a 3rd string QB causes a stir, that even furthers my confusion. Relax dude.:

Maybe I'm missing something here but I really don't get the constant threads and discussions about our 3rd string QB. We HAVE one of the best franchise QBs in the league and he's only 30. Who cares how McGee is doing? I don't see these threads about backup QBs on any other team's forums that have a QB. There aren't even as many Teebow threads on the Broncos forum as we have McGee discussions.

Courage under fire is what we saw from McGee tonight he made some plays when there were not to be made and protected the football.

Very encouraged from what I saw tonight.

I liked him more than I liked Kitna today. Kitna maybe the better decision maker but one thing I hate when I see Kitna is that its always like he's throwing off his back foot. He looks a lot slower than McGee. McGee has some ways to go as well. But for now he should make people forget about Matt Moore and us "cutting" him.

Dude, it's the preseason. The Romo threads will start when the regular season starts. Right now it's about evaluating our backups and being able to tell who can help the Cowboys this year and down the line.

I was impressed with McGee. Nichols? That guy is camp fodder if you ask me.

QB's are generally important, interesting, and also easy to evaluate in pre-season. Hes a guy we havent had a chance to see yet. And there really hasnt even been much attention paid to him. We havent had a game in months. At this point Josh Brent is getting hype.

I dont think you hit on any points

Hey SDCowboy,

As I stated above, I think it's mostly because we all know how important Romo is to this offense, and if he went down, we want to know that we have a young QB who can step up...Kitna sure isn't the answer.

Thank you. That's all I was wondering about. I didn't mean to cause an uproar. :p:

Romo is 30. Not old, but not young. He'll be gone before you know it, and it's nice to know if we have someone to take over the reigns. Remember the gap between Aikman and Romo-- yeah, I don't want to go back to that, or even worry about possibly going back to that.

I agree but when Tony hangs them up, McGee will be in his 30s though and only have a few left himself.

I also find it annoying how you think people are wrong in what they want to talk about. Even if there were an influx of Mcgee threads

Seriously? This is what the preseason is all about.

Edit: Nevermind.

I thought Mcgee looked uncomfortable. He made a couple of nice passes, but it seemed like he'd lock onto the first guy and throw it. If the first guy wasn't open, he was either sacked or threw the ball away.

I don't know much about QB mechanics, but he seems to have a strange and slow wind-up. It is a little like Byron Leftwich.

I agree with Everlast that Nichols actually looked more like an NFL QB.

Honestly, there wasn't much to judge. He didn't impress and he didn't disappoint. I don't think he even looked at the left side of the field due partially to the pressure but also because he just locked onto that side. It may have been play design as well.
