Stephen McGee?

Today? No definitely not.

3-4 weeks from now if they decide they dont want to risk injury to Romo (and Kitna is playing as bad as he did vs GB)- yes

That said, if the team starts to come around and Romo is healthy, I'm thinking they let him play.

Until Kitna clearly becomes the problem, which right now I'm not convinced of, he should start. Maybe Mcgee starts later in the season but not yet.
Is 6 interceptions and three fumbles in three games not a clear problem?

Start McGee so everyone will see why we shouldn't start McGee.

I thought he played ok vs NYG and Jacksonville. 3 of the picks in the Jacksonville game were not his fault, they werent poor throws or poor reads. Guys just didnt catch the ball.

He played awful vs GB though.

I haven't liked any of his games. I think McGee could do just as well.

Right now I would not start McGee if I want to get a better evaluation of the guys on this team I need a QB who can be effective. Over the last 3 games of season I would let McGee play a substantial amount of snaps but right now I think others things need to be looked at for this team

Don't think he should start, but I think some playing time is in order if the game is out of hand.

I clearly believe it is in the Cowboys best interest to win as many games as possible to finish this season. I think it is imperative that they change their way of thinking and winning can really help the causes. If they can win a game, I think they must try and I don't think McGee gives them the best shot right now.

Still think Kitna is way better for Dez at this point. McGee reportedly had problems throwing the ball down field in pre-season. Thats a confidence issue, and he's not going to gain more confidence playing in real games behind this cratered offensive line. Especially not against the Giants.

If you want to throw him in for a game or two in December, or maybe get him in late some games during mop up time fine. But I'll reiterate I think you make this decision on what's best for Dez, because I think McGee is still at least a few years away whether he gets some game time or not.

I wouldn't start him against the Giants. With our O-line, that's actually laughable. Kitna's immobile so it's going to be bad as it is but starting a rookie in there would be ugly.

Later on in the season maybe. This is a big decision that will illustrate Garrett's ability as a head coach. The ability to determine the effectiveness of his players, to mix and match talents against opponents, to adjust to situations, and determine the psyche of players in situations and figure out what combinations give his team the best chance at a W. It'll be interesting and fun to watch.

Glad to have the season back.

m'kay Let me gaze into my crystal ball....Kitna will start this weekend and McGee will come in sometime in the second quarter cause Kitna will be headed to the training room. The bigger question is who finishes the game after McGee joins him?

I'm sure if Kitna were to get injured leaving only McGee Dallas would look outside to bring in backup QB

Garrett's first priority is to change the attitude and effort of the players. He can't tell them, "We play to win and you need to prove you are giving your maximum effort to win", and then turn around and start treating the rest of the season like it is a try-out for next-year's players.

While I agree that McGee is more mobile than Kitna, there is no way he can read a defense or anticipate a blitz or route like an experienced QB like Kitna.

Winning and losing are both habit-forming and attitude multipliers. I see a lot of posters saying, "let's use the rest of this season as an extended pre-season for next year so we can evaluate the young players on the roster and get a top five draft pick." Go ahead, lose 12-13 in a row and see how tough it is to have a positive attitude and effort when you decide it's time to want to play to win.

"Winning isn't the most important thing, it's the only thing" (to quote an arch-enemy).

I believe that McGee can play QB in the NFL, but I don't believe he's ready. Kitna gives the team the best chance to win right now. And a lack of focus on "right now" is what put this team where it is.

It would be kinda hard to do that on gameday

I doubt we lose 2 QB's on game day and even if you did what would it matter. I'm sure they would just go to a wild cat for the remainder of the game

Outside of 2 poorly thrown balls in 2 games, I think Kitna's done a decent job. I'm not ready to give it to McGee until we have 9 losses.

Did not say it was out of the realm of possibilities only that it is unlikely to lose 2 QB's in the game. Should that happen then as I said Dallas would likely go to a wildcat offense the rest of the game.

The offense would start playing "sand-lot football". It might be fun to watch.:laugh2:

If we think pressure and turn overs are bad under Kitna, we would all wanna eat a gun after a game with Mcgee under center. He can't stretch the field. Everyone would blitz all day against our poor O line and disguise coverages that Mcgee has never scene before. Its too poor of a situation to put Mcgee into. Atleast Kitna can read coverages and throw downfield to Dez. Lets just hope we don't turn another game into a tip drill.
