Saying one strategy has failed doesn’t mean the other is guaranteed to succeed. The point is what we have done hasn’t worked. It might be time to change it up a bit.

That’s my point. I never said there were any guarantees in FA. But what we have done hasn’t worked. So why not approach it differently?

You brought up the wins as if they do it your way. They would win. Don't try and weasel out now

An NFL agent told people a few years ago that Stephen Jones is legitimately one of the dumbest people they’ve ever met .

Not football dumb …

Like 2+2 dumb .

Link? Demarcus Lawerence agents says the total opposite

Again point out where I said doing it my way would guarantee wins? I said no such thing. Just saying one way hasn’t worked doesn’t mean that doing it another way is guaranteed to succeed.

Your leaps in logic are impressive.

Your backtrack is amazing. If you didn't feel them dabbling in free agency the way you want them would lead to what you posted, you wouldn't have used that argument....lol

Your ability to comprehend what people write is lacking.

Again pointing out what they have done has failed and they should try something different doesn’t mean that the next strategy will definitely work.

You’ll find zero posts from me suggesting that changing FA strategies would guarantee a SB. But most that read this can understand the point being made.

It’s not rocket science. What they have done in terms of roster building has led them on a 20 year run that ranks with some of the worst teams in NFL. It’s not outrageous to suggest maybe they try something else. Most non-homer fans can grasp that point. It’s not surprising you can’t.

I take his words to mean they weren't willing to pay what teams were asking for and I am happy about that. If this team is going to win, it will win with defense. If they can get healthy I think their defense will be good enough as long as the offense scores some points to let the defense do what it does best.

If they gave up a 2 for Cooks we would have gone for the pitchforks after getting a 5th for Cooper. I think once they get Washington and Brown back they will be okay. They also haven't scratched the surface with their young TEs yet either. Hendershot in particular appears to have to RAC ability if they get him the ball in the right situations.

Capboy year in and year out always says we are please with the team, we like our guys, yadda yadda. I don't think they are savvy enough to pull together a smart trade. Thus most GMs don't respect them and consider them as a joke.

You pointed out that we haven't won anything not being bigger spenders in free agency but if they do they will have post season success, that's the insinuation you gave. Don't try and back off that now. When in fact they've been bigger spenders in the past and that didn't work either. The Ken Hamlins, Brandon Carr, Zack Thomas, Columbo, Leonard Davis Anthony Henry, Terrell Owen's, Laroi Glover, Darren McFadden, going all the way back To Rocket Ismail, Vanderget,Eddie George, There were others I left out.

“Trades aren’t the only way to acquire players”

yes we know that. What you didn’t say is that you don’t utilize the other resources to acquire players either.
Lol. My thoughts as well.

I for one am glad he/they didn't make that deal for Cooks. Not that Cooks isn't a decent WR who would've helped this year, but a second with his contract? No thanks, that's crazy big for what he is.
I'm curious who else they were looking at and how much that would've cost, anyone know?

We all know they think Washington will be good for us or they would have made another mover before the deadline, probably before the season started. I sure hope they're correct because we need someone else to help the offense. I think he can be a pretty decent WR for us. He just needs to get healthy and prove it. But I wouldn't have left the cupboard empty assuming he will be.

Nice job on the Hankins trade and I’m glad they didn’t give up a 2nd for Cook. Go get Odell.
Neither Cooks or Claypool are worth a 2nd rd pick. Cooks also had a huge contract, glad they didn't make a deal! By the way, Fuller is just as good as a deep threat and he costs nothing, along with OBJ.

They are JAGs. Watkins is a backup DT that you could find anywhere. Barr is a mediocre LB (and as noted, part of our struggles in stopping the run is LB play since Parsons typically is playing on the edge). These guys are just bodies.

The best signing was Hooker who solved a major problem at FS IMO. Fowler has also been a nice signing sliding into that rotation at DE.

But at hte end of the day, the FO signs low risk, cheap guys to hope they hit on a couple. Which they did with guys like Hooker and Fowler. But the other thing here is that any signings you make in midseason are just gonna be JAGs anyway so I can't really get on them if they don't sign anyone. Jones saying we could still add in FA is kind of a canard because even he knows there ain't likely to be much out there in FA at this point during the season.

Well, OBJ is a unique case. He would be an interesting signing if they did that.
So far, Hankins seems like a very good signing.

He would have been better off just saying that we didn't feel the need to add a WR at this point.
But then people would have read that they wanted Cook, but the deal didn't go through, then they would accuse him of being a liar...which would have been true, if that had happened.

fake SJ is correct, the fan base, see here , wont let FA or trade deadlines go. Just whine 24-7 when most stated we were doomed with an HISTORICALLY bad Offseason and we would lose a lot of games after dak went down wanted a new QB, not rush, yet here we sit at 6-2 with help coming back in Washington, Tyrone and others healthy after the BYE. Nothing but a whinefest.

the place is just hell bent on being debbie downers. half the front page is nothing but..

Gallup is getting better each game, Washingtons coming back, brown didn't play the last game and Schultz is Daks guy and also picking up his stats etc , we are fine, no need to reach for trade to just make one.
