I'm guessing so since they released Peterman.

Ducasse has taken advantage of the available first-team left guard playing time, moving ahead of Brian Winters, who hasn’t played in either preseason game because of an ankle injury but is available Saturday.

I got it from a scouting report...
http://thejetsblog.com/bga/bga-scouting-stephen-peterman/

Peterman has been completely healthy over the past two seasons and in 2010, although he was dealing with a foot issue all year, which affected him badly, he didn’t miss any games. He struggled badly all year though, although he did play well over the last month. In 2011, he had a solid season and was ranked as PFF’s 16th best guard. However, in 2012, although he graded out positively overall, he was down near the bottom of the league in terms of pass protection. Peterman’s best season was probably the 2009 season that was cut short – he ended up ranked 14th despite missing the last seven games and could probably have finished in the top five if he’d stayed healthy and continued to play at the same level.

So my original point was that he has done well in the past but looks like injuries have really affected him. So me being completely wrong is completely wrong, unless of course you know the guy and have good talks over dinner with his coaches.

yeah a blog is so reliable.

You guys must not watch a lot of the Lions. It's okay, I don't blame you. Peterman was a failed 3rd rounder for us. He was drafted the same year as the Tackle we drafted that failed. I can't remember his name.(Jacob Rogers?? uhh I can't remember) Anyway.. and went on to be a decent guard for the Lions. He's better than Mack and Livings for sure. As well as Arkin. Maybe not if his foot is bad but last year even injured he was better than what we had at guard IMO.

since the Lions let him go - and no one else has picked him up- sounds like he is done or was not good enough for anyone else either

The last thing we need on this team is yet another o-lineman with injury issues. Methinks we can do better than Peterman if we play our cards right. There'll be more to choose from in another day or three. Give it time.

Right...I'm pretty sure I was inquiring about Peterman and even though it was a blog it still sourced some of the info...but you know a lot more than I do. I guess I'll go back to my game of Jacks now. Thank you for your insight.

Last year was probably his best but for the most part he hasn't been more than an average guard... And some think he wasn't even average.

That being said looking at who is probably going to make the roster...

Smith
Free
Parnell
Frederick
Costa
Leary
Arkin
Bern

That's 8 guys right there... Even without dealing with Livings. And then you have the Bell and Kowalski situations.

Unless a guy is a sure-thing to knock someone off the roster I can't see it happening.

Out of those 8, Only Frederick, Smith, and Free are worth keeping.

none out of 6 is a lot better than none out of 66

Ok bud you win...should probably head back to the Commanders board and make your logical posts there. I don't even know why I have entertained you for this long. For a 53 yr old you obviously have a lot of growing up to do. Take care sir and good luck in all your future endeavors.

Stephen Peterman just got released from the NYJ. Yes, the Jets are a mess, but one of their few strngths is still their O Line. Maybe he was just a casualty because they have more adequate depth? He STILL HAS to be better than anything else we have at RG, right?? Even if this Free experiment does turn into fruit, he's better depth than either Mack or Nate who can't seem to stay on the field. I'd give him a look, he was above average with the Lions. Plus, maybe the return to the team that drafted him along with Callahan, gives him a shot in the arm of motivation? Thoughts??

Peterman was NEVER more than mediocre with an occasional good day. Not worth it even if he was healthy.

Did he actually become a decent guard after we gave up on him? Does the Landry 3yr rule need to be revised?

Yes. By all means. I think we need to keep Arkin around and give him at least 5 years to develop so that it will not have been the waste of a 4th round pick. :)
