It's bad that they think this guy looks good. Either they're delusional (possible), or the RB room is so bad that he does in fact stand out.

This is surprising to me because I haven't seen where Royce said that he's in the best shape of his life.......isn't that the qualifier here?

Probably on the last round of cuts and then Stephen will say how it was a very hard decision trimming the roster due to all the talent in the backfield.
Then 2025 rolls around and it's a brand new cast of running backs.

Stephen is just patting himself on the back. Dowdle and Elliott will be getting 90% of the carries.

Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones said on @1053thefan that veteran RB Royce Freeman has “really impressed.” They were surprised he was available when they signed him to a one-year deal in April.

“We were just talking about it last night at the scout dinner, ‘What in the hell was he doing sitting around out there?’ An interesting guy to just have been sitting there. He’s a great 2-3 combination in terms of what he can do as a backup. He’s a big, thick guy. And he’s a hell of a special teams player as well. He’ll be a good addition and great complement to (Ezekiel Elliott). And then we’ll let these young guys between (Rico Dowdle and Malik Davis) and those guys battle it out.”

Having a better RB situation than last year would be nice but really I think our main problem was the linemen and the lame blocking scheme. Glowing reviews of the OL would make me happier than of the RBs.

I will wait for PS action in games.
Does he do what he is supposed to do. And can he pass protect.

This has gotta be a joke.
agree. I mean where else in the league does an owner of a team hype up a career journeyman as if the player is all pro? The Jones boys believe we are stupid. What can we glean from what Stephen Jones said? That yes, they are in fact arrogant buffoons and cons. Straight from Arkansas.

thimble noun

1: a pitted cap or cover worn on the finger to push the needle in sewing

Examples of thimble in a Sentence

Jerry and Stephen Jones' player evaluation skill would not fill a thimble.

Bingo!

Not very cool to bash the o-line. More fun to bash zeke...apparently.

This is very typical training camp hyperbole from the Cowboys. They hype up their own decisions to make themselves look like geniuses.

ST player who gives you some game day depth at RB.

Despite the size, probably won't get the chance at short yardage with Zeke back.

Understanding his assignments should be a given at this point in his career. Executing them is definitely the question. He's a power back, so he's not going to really show what he can do or can't do until the PS games.

Freeman is a decent back. Works well in a RBBC. Not a super star but definitely can contribute during games. Most of you all don't pay any attention to teams that aren't the Cowboys and love to crap on every move the team makes so I'm not surprised some people are so down on him.

He's listed online at 238lb, the same size as Hunter. Zeke is almost 230lbs. I like the bigger backs and the smashmouth style so I'm hoping we rotate often and run a fresh 230-240lb back out there over and over to wear out defenses. Freeman's second year he caught 43 passes as well so he can catch the ball as well.
