Stephen thinks that Dallas Cowboys third-round pick Shavon Revel will start the season on PUP.

Project players! I just don't get it. Every year we waist a pick on a project! How about we pick someone who can contribute??!
A guy who is rated a first rounder a Project player?
Complain that he is injured is one thing, but somehow we reached on a project?!?

Great pick

All 3 guys seem to be likeable can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That does help me like the team. Not to pick on DLaw but he wasn’t a likable guy. It’s easier to root for the players that seem to want to play. The last couple years we’ve have some guys that didn’t seem like football was important to them, DLaw, Gregory, etc. it’s more fun watching a team with guys that seem to want to play.

I’m excited and I can’t wait either. I like how Schotty had made a priority of getting guys that are “football fanatics” and love the game. That Schotty hire is slowly growing on me.

Totally agree

On a sidenote everyone seems to be likeable in their first few years, it's after they get their feet wet/and get the bag

What is this franchises fascination with injured players?
Use an early 3rd round pick on an ACL torn CB who is likely to start the season on PUP. It's not like we don't have a need at CB. Let's just use a costly early 3rd rounder. No biggie.
It's about getting 1st round talent at 76. Additionally, it was their own doctor who performed the surgery.

No, I didn't know that. Nor do I care.

How many times has drafting injured players with bad knees worked out for the Cowboys? 1st, 2nd and 3rd round picks should be used on healthy players who can contribute right away.

But I'm sure you don't care about all of this. So cheer away.
I kinda thought the same, since I was hoping for a nice DT. After researching this youngins character and drive, I came to see this as a good pick. There's little doubt this kids drive and determination will have him ready to go this summer.

If healthy he's probably a 1st round pick. Yes it's nice to get instant contributions from all your draft picks, but you're also drafting for the future too.

In this case drafting for the future is fine. Some here are acting like a CB selected in the 3rd round is going to be the player that puts us over the top this season. Most fans nitpicking this pick are the same ones posting that we will be competing with the Giants for 3rd in the division. I hope this selection pans out and he allows us to move on from Diggs.

We've had so many of these injury projects that have this amazing potential pre injury and they never pan out. Jaylon Smith, him and 'wolf hunter' had like one solid year together and then people couldn't want for Jaylon to leave.

Grandad --- those ACL tears aren't what it meant to high school losers who got hurt and sit in bars talking about the glory days like you grew up with.

It is an ACL from September -- he was a solid first rounder before that. this isn't nerve damage like Jaylon had. This was a simple injury that 1000s of players come back from.

Jeez. Someone has some deep-seated resentment towards a certain group of individuals.

Picked on by the jocks were you?

As far as the pick goes I’ll take a wait and see approach. Hopefully he fully recovers and is a solid pick.

This pick made me sick! You have all that momentum going in the draft with awesome first two picks and then you draft a guy coming off an ACL WHY JERRY WHY! Every year you pull the same damn thing with your love for injured player garbage. D- with this pick!

It depends on what you consider working out…. Because id say Jaylen Smith worked out. He had a few solid years here. Sean Lee and Bruce Carter as well.

I’d say I’d prefer not to take injured players in the first two rounds….in the 3rd? I say take the shot. I think trading for Elam allows you to take this chance.
I see both sides of this one easily.

Depends what you’re looking for. Personally I’m not expecting to win this year so if he gets on the field for like the last six games and shows flashes of being a higher end talent, I’m in.

Plus Jerry can’t help himself with his corners, so it could have been worse. He just can’t.

It’s like the…’we’ve gotta cover all day because the opposing QB can easily step into the pocket because our DTs are garbage but we don’t care because they aren’t marketable and are on rotation’ approach.

Doesn’t work that way but maybe that’s how they did things in Arkansas in the 60s.

If you want to be a team that builds thru the draft and proud yourself of being good at drafting players for sure you dont want your thrid round pick starting on PUP.

The goal would be to find a first day starter with your third round pick. And especially if the guy has essentially only backup competition.

Stephen you are the incarnation of low demandand expectations. You are such a miscast.

But then its positive that Stephen "thinks". That means that the outcome is open because thinking is not Stephens strength. The guy usually has only "a feeling" about things.

Let's see how this turns out. This isn't a Jaylon Smith situation. The only reason he was there at 76 was because of the injury. They expect him to start on PUP. That doesn't mean week 1. They're hoping he recovers by camp, or a bit after that. That's what I got from listening to Stephen. I'm hoping he's good, more than I am worried about his injury. But he is a risk pick. I just hope for the best.

Grandad? You're older than me.

You still didn't answer my question. How many times has drafting injured players with bad knees worked out for the Cowboys?
Drafting injured players hasn’t been their biggest issue. Only ones that come to mind were Jaylon and Clark. Clark was a 5th which was a good risk/reward there. Jaylon was absolutely mind-numbing since it was high second and had to sit for a full year.

The Cowboys’ bigger issue has been drafting questionable character guys with high picks.

I'm probably older than everyone on the board. As to injury and the players drafted, roughly one third of the picks on Day 2 have an injury history. Why did Will Johnson fall? Knee issues! Every year half the players drafted if not 90 percent have had some type of injury in college especially their last two years. Every player comes back differently.

ACL injuries used to be a recovery time of 12 to18 months. Now it is roughly 4 to 6 months depending on the extent of the tear. Revel ran a 4.40 sec 40, I believe on his pro day. Also his surgeon was the Cowboys team doctor so if the doctor believed he was okay, pretty confident that he would have told Jerry don't draft the guy if he wasn't okay.

We got 2 players on Day 2 that most analyst agreed would have been 1st round picks if not for the ACL (Revel) or was 2 inches taller (Ezeiuaku) and not to mention Booker who most believe we drafted to early but was the #1 OG in the draft and top 7 OL prospect in the draft. We might not agree with the picks, mainly because we didn't take a WR or RB ie the sexy picks but we did improve the overall team.

As to WR and RB, if on Day 3 we get either Ollie Gordon RB Oklahoma St or Jayden Blue RB Texas or Bhalshuy Tuten RB or Cameron Skattebo and then either Dont'e Thornton WR Tennessee or Ja'Corey Brooks WR Louisville or I. Bond WR Texas then it will be a good draft. Also wouldn't hurt to get Cam Jackson DT Florida either.

Besides the fact that he's already running full speed forward he took set himself he believes he could be ready for camp and maybe he'll start camp and start the offseason on PUP and be regulated.. OF course they are not going to let them get full contact unless he's ready but if this guy's ready say around preseason starts to get some work and maybe can get into practice leading up to the game plans for game one then he will play.. I don't understand why the fan base doesn't understand that most acl's you could start doing full work at 6 months now they're not going to release you medically in a sport like football to do full contact in a game but at 9 months that is absolutely possible you literally can go full speed and play a game of football after 9 months the problem here is everybody remembers setbacks that other players had where other players rehab didn't go well and they didn't get back right but there are dudes that seamlessly came back and had no problems...
That’s not what he said. I suggest people actually watch for themselves.
So this is a wait and see type thing I'm confident he'll probably be ready for the season but there's no reason to rush him back other than the fact that Butler and Diggs are also hurt and we're going to be counting on guys like Elam and Carson I mean they may already have that handshake deal with Gilmore coming back I mean there's opportunities here the team not only with corners with receivers running backs they've got work to do and they're going to do it we're not playing a game next Sunday but everyone acts like we are these overreactions to everything is as if we're playing a game next Sunday no we're not people we have five months to get this workout..
