Stephen thinks that Dallas Cowboys third-round pick Shavon Revel will start the season on PUP.

Drafting injured players hasn’t been their biggest issue. Only ones that come to mind were Jaylon and Clark. Clark was a 5th which was a good risk/reward there. Jaylon was absolutely mind-numbing since it was high second and had to sit for a full year.

The Cowboys’ bigger issue has been drafting questionable character guys with high picks.
There's a fine line between all these arguments and debates but you're right and even Clark though he was ready to play he just didn't turn out to be the player we hoped and had nothing to do with the injury he's just your very average to below average blah middle linebacker but maybe the linebacker whisperer here with EberFlu's can fix him...

But even Jalen Smith,

I remember that draft there were teams that were going to pick him about three or four spots or at least in that round he was highly sought after because he was worked the risk in their minds and he did have a couple of Pro Bowl year, I know it doesn't matter that you can build up a bunch of tackles, and say it was good but he at least was serviceable...

I mean he was a top five pick that got hurt this has happened, I remember, I don't remember his name of running back did he go to Washington and he came out of the Miami hurricane program destroyed his knee he came back and was fine... he had a great pro career, so you look at these with a mixed result but teams just drafted Abdul Carter and he has a fracture in his foot literally top 5...

I mean there are other injured players that get picked it's not the Cowboys it's all the league when they look at a guy that has that much potential and in this case it's rebel you get him in the 3rd round they say he's going to be fine ACLS are not career in the and we may end him get a first round corner at a value pick..

What is this franchises fascination with injured players?
Revel's long term prognosis is outstanding. This isn't a long term issue.
He just injured the ACL early last season, so it'd be a big mistake to rush a guy who may start for 7-8 years out there just to appease fans.

This is a player with 1st round talent who had a typical ACL repair by Dr Cooper.

He will be just fine

Many teams had him as a top 15 player.

They need to bring the kid along slow. No reason to rush. Hell likely try to rush himself back like overshown, but they gotta let him really get his legs under him.

His ACL surgery was in October, yet he's already up to 21 mph on the treadmill

He will be fine, but lets make sure Dr Cooper lets his patient go thru proper rehab to give us the steal that most of the NFL world thinks we got.

I'm probably older than everyone on the board. As to injury and the players drafted, roughly one third of the picks on Day 2 have an injury history. Why did Will Johnson fall? Knee issues! Every year half the players drafted if not 90 percent have had some type of injury in college especially their last two years. Every player comes back differently.

ACL injuries used to be a recovery time of 12 to18 months. Now it is roughly 4 to 6 months depending on the extent of the tear. Revel ran a 4.40 sec 40, I believe on his pro day. Also his surgeon was the Cowboys team doctor so if the doctor believed he was okay, pretty confident that he would have told Jerry don't draft the guy if he wasn't okay.

We got 2 players on Day 2 that most analyst agreed would have been 1st round picks if not for the ACL (Revel) or was 2 inches taller (Ezeiuaku) and not to mention Booker who most believe we drafted to early but was the #1 OG in the draft and top 7 OL prospect in the draft. We might not agree with the picks, mainly because we didn't take a WR or RB ie the sexy picks but we did improve the overall team.

As to WR and RB, if on Day 3 we get either Ollie Gordon RB Oklahoma St or Jayden Blue RB Texas or Bhalshuy Tuten RB or Cameron Skattebo and then either Dont'e Thornton WR Tennessee or Ja'Corey Brooks WR Louisville or I. Bond WR Texas then it will be a good draft. Also wouldn't hurt to get Cam Jackson DT Florida either.
If I was a football player that got a surgery from a doctor that happened to also work for a NFL team and that surgeon told the NFL team not to draft/sign me based on my surgery, I would sue that doctor.

I doubt the surgeon can say much to the team that isn't already readily available (or part of the standard draft/FA process).

Would like to have seen him against a consistently better level of competition but on his tape his movement is so fluid and easy and he’s reacts so confidently with purpose that it’s as if he was in the others teams huddle.

If he can transition this play style to the NFL, this pick will turn out to be as hot as Jaxson Dart’s mom.

He didn't say season.

You have training camp first and Stephen also said he will be on pup until they can get him in there and see where he is at.

Reports are he will be ready by July and Jerry said he is more healthy then the injured corners they already have
"East Carolina CB Shavon Revel — a first-round draft prospect who had ACL reconstruction Oct. 15 — is on schedule to be fully cleared this summer, his surgeon Dr. Daniel Cooper told NFL teams in a letter."

Maybe not, but that's straight from the Dr's mouth.

We shall see...

Now THIS ^^^ is a very good, well thought out and informative response! I especially liked your last paragraph. Would totally hit the jackpot with either of those positional players.

 :hammer:

I’m with tou
Let's see how this turns out. This isn't a Jaylon Smith situation. The only reason he was there at 76 was because of the injury. They expect him to start on PUP. That doesn't mean week 1. They're hoping he recovers by camp, or a bit after that. That's what I got from listening to Stephen. I'm hoping he's good, more than I am worried about his injury. But he is a risk pick. I just hope for the best.
I’m with you. The upside is huge. But we need a RB so bad. I would be on the phone trying to trade into the 4th. If we can get a RB then we can go BPA the rest of the way.

We really can't trade into the 4th with the picks we currently have. I also wouldn't use a pick next year for what's left in this draft. We could use our two 5th round picks to get into the back end of the 4th round. Is that worth it?

Yet another injured draft pick rehabbing. At least we waited until the third round.

You forgot LVE (1st round: 2018), Sean Lee (2nd round: 2010) and Bruce Carter (2nd round: 2011). All costly pre-existing early round college players.

“You call him Dr. Jones!”

—Short Round 1935

He never said start the season on PUP. He said we will start him on PUP, as in you put him on PUP as soon as he is under contract and allow him to keep working through rehab. Hopefully, he is ready for training camp and will come off PUP then.

Again, do you prefer a lesser CB just because he may be ready sooner, even if not more talented? Some of you guys act like we are in competition for the SB this season and should draft accordingly.
