Stephen tried to warn the Rams

I am pretty sure there will be a point in time where I feel sorry for you.

But now is not that time. It's still laugh at Rockport time, which most of this board does every time you post.
Thank you. This place is overrun with lowlifes so I take that as a compliment. Again, thank you.

Fans sound stupid when they think the Cowboys should have been in on Garrett or that the front office had even 1% chance of getting him in ANY trade offer.
  1. The Cowboys had nothing of value to offer the Browns. Just as the Cowboys wouldn’t consider a Micah trade that didn’t include a quality DT, the Rams turned down 2 first round picks plus others because they were not entertaining a trade at all until it included the 25 year old defensive rookie of the year who has made the pro bowl in both NFL seasons, a player who has 12 sacks and 3 more in the playoffs, and a guy they have control of for 3 more years on his rookie deal.
  2. Most importantly, Miles Garrett had a no trade clause, just like Dak had. The Cowboys could have offered every decent player + 5 first round picks and the deal never would have happened because Garrett would not approve a trade to anyone but a serious SB contender.
So if you don’t like the Cowboys work this offseason, cool. But if you’ve changed your tune because the Rams made a huge trade for Miles Garrett, why? The Cowboys have nothing to do with this.
So you're saying we're not a sb Contender? I'm shocked.lol

They are about money, success as they define it and comfortability. They see football as an entertainment business. Success means people watch, sales etc. They focus on offense because it gives them a higher entertainment value than defense. If they make the playoffs or close you see them do very little outside of the draft to try and get better because to them their biggest fear is last year where Dallas isn't competitive. So now we see the big changes. They'll have success probably make the playoffs and get bounced early. Next off season they will do very little to try and win a SB outside of drafting players.
And that's the only reason they went so big on defense...they were forced to. Why didn't they fix the defense when we actually had teams that could compete? They don't care about sbs, only making money.

LOL, you don't realize this is a self own.

I live up in Eagles country. They laugh at fans like you that are utterly defensive of the organization despite the fact they have failed for nearly 3 decades. They actually don't mind the fans that rightfully call out the folly that is this current frnachise.
We are a laughingstock up here in PA. They used to envy us. Not anymore.

Couple of biggies:

Poona Ford in FA
Intelligent drafting in Fiske in the 2nd and Turner in the 3rd.

Other FAs: Davante Adams, Colby Parkinson, Kamren Curl, Darious Williams, Witherspoon.

Basically, they understand who to sign in FA. DTs and Ss and OLs. Doesn't hurt to get lucky at OLT w/ a UDFA in Alaric Jackson.

Just smart team building overall. Fill in the important positions of OL and DL, and then go out and get the rest. Myles Garrett should be the final piece.
And if not, Stephen did warn them. So they can't blame us.

The key is the Rams players don't have super greedy agent Mulugheta as their agent, and their players are not individually demanding NFL record position contracts either like the Cowboys players do.

Get the Rams players to start being super greedy, that yearly trip to the playoffs would come to an end.

That second team defense could have been a starting unit for a team that would have been pretty good.

The depth was ridiculous. That’s why Jerry was able to hang on for another little while before it all went to hell. Hence the Parcells comment some years later about how in two years you’ll never know he was ever here.

I really don’t get how anyone can claim that Jerry had anything at all to do with personnel when Jimmy was here. The way the moves are made alone tells you that it’s not the same person pulling the strings. But whatever. Thats Jerrys thing….proving to the world that he can do it too. I’d ask this….why is he so hell-bent on proving himself if he has already done it?
Good question !!

Initially it might have been more driven by wanting to prove he can win without a Jimmy's built team but I think it’s become more than that and really has been from the onset. And what drove the JJ’s to their fallout.

We have to remember he’s always wanted to be everything from socks to jocks. And when he didn’t get more credit after winning Super Bowls he was upset.

He always wanted to be a Football Guy not just an owner . Becoming an owner just allows him to live out his dreams and pursue his passions without being held directly accountable like hired help.

It’s why he’ll never step down or get out of the way . He has no interest in just being an owner. And the greater coaches in the league don’t want anything to do with a situation as such . And why we end up with puppets or retreads whose phone isn’t ringing at the time.

He’s not interested in winning unless he’s a part of it . And why was willing to part ways in an ego battle with back to back SB HC . No owner in the history in the league has ever conducted themselves as such after winning SB’s. We knew then his priorities were out of whack.

And he brilliantly implemented revolutionary revenue streams which prevented the lack of success on the field to impact revenue which might force him to change .

Stafford cap hit is 48 million. Davonte Adams is 28 million, Jackson is 25 million.

Garrets is low this year ( 9 million)cause of his huge signing bonus but he has the highest contact for a non QB. Nacua is going to get a huge deal soon.

I’d argue the difference is their top talent is out performing especially on the bigger stages. And coaching is better. Organization , etc.

Their top 4 highest players you listed are way cheaper than our top 4 highest paid players. It's not even close.

Fans have to accept organizationally the Cowboys simply are lacking because of not having a VP and or GM without the security of ownership and the experience most have to be qualified to be.

It’s really a waste of being the #1 revenue franchise in the league. There’s no Cap on front office or coaching staff.

Cowboys could afford to have a Dream Team front office and coaching staff. No franchise should have a better or more qualified VP, GM, HC and staff.

But we don’t because of our owner who insist on being a Celebrity Football Guy.

Stephen Jones is like George Costanza.

If he tells me to do, or not to do, something....I'm going to do THE OPPOSITE.

Everything he says and does is wrong. Therefore, by definition, the opposite must be right!

Other teams probably put "Kick Me" signs on Stephen's back during the Owners Meeting, and laugh behind his back at him.

What a Gomer.

It’s like a lot of Mom and Pop operations . They’d prefer have family in positions that higher qualified and or proven candidates .

Yup. Lost by 4 in the NFC champ game last season. Big reason for the trade. Is Myles worth 4 pts? OMG, easily, prolly a lot more than that. Darnold does not have 346 yds passing w/ Myles in his face, and Rams most likely win that game and the super bowl.
Sorry to repeat but had to fix this (they both had one sack):

Myles Garret playoffs: 3 games, 1 sack, 1 TFL, 2 QB hits, 6 tackles.

Micah Parson playoffs (with Cowboys): 3 games, 1 sack, 3 TFL, 4 QB hits, 18 tackles.

And we love to talk about how Micah disappeared in playoff games here when it mattered the most.

Just pointing out that nothing is a given.

When hard work & opportunity meet the Jones’s stay sidelined.

Ever get the feeling that McVay stays up at night scouring the internet for little tips from Stephen on how to improve his team...I do...
Everyone in the Eagles and Rams FO seeks the sacred info about "how does he do it" of one Nepo-Wiz Stephen Jones. LOL!
