Stephen: We will be selectively aggressive

"We are going to thoroughly weigh our options"
"We like to look at all available talent"
"We're always looking to get better."
"We made him a fair offer"

"Get Up" has literally made a laughing stock of this quote by SJ this morning. Pretty genius though if you ask me. Our owners relish the attention both good and bad so much so that any quote made by either will get attention. All day long.

gonna find the cheapest guy and go after him day 1 instead of a month later

smart good job stephen

Exactly!

Mickey Spagnola did an articles on Dallascowbos.com on this topic of "selectively aggressive" saying it mean nothing will change this year from last. As he wrote, the Cowboys CAP situation is still a problem. Mickey is a homer I think and my guess is he writes what the Joneses tell him to write. Last year Stephen had to clarify Jerry's "all in" comments. This year it's Mickey clarifying Stephen's comments.

Are most teams unselectively aggressively?

Maybe it is a reference to the stupid Trance trade, that was desperately aggressive.
I had no issue with the Trey Lance trade, it was a lottery ticket and a chance to better bargin with dak - however they didn't use and develop him as they should of and they didn't get the benefit in the negotiations with dak like they should have.

It’s amazingly simple. The Jones boys have a formula. Here’s the 3 step formula:
  1. Use tantalizing generic phrases to make the fan base believe “there’s a chance” we will make some moves in FA. Say things like “All in” or “selectively aggressive”, “We’re into personnel acquisition 24/7”….all phrases that are complete garbage.
  2. Say intelligence insulting lies about their cap restrictions that will not allow them to make moves. Meanwhile the better GMs in the league say “hold my beer” and make moves with the same cap challenges we have.
  3. Rinse and repeat. Season after frustrating season.
The other truth about the Jones boys front office: When their formula doesn’t work, they will fire the coaches who didn’t have anything to do with the above formula.

Yep.....I think ideally they are going to try to fill as many open starting positions as possible before the draft. I also think most if not all free offers will be to players with some connection to the coaching staff but it may cost a little more than what they have spent in the past.
Problem is, they may feel they already have their guys on the team. Next man up
