Stephen: We're in it to win the last two games then we'll worry about the future

Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones on @1053thefan: “We’re in it to win these games. I think it means a lot to this team, not only this year, but for our future.”

Jones when asked about Mike McCarthy: “He’s doing a great job right now. There are a lot of teams who would have dysfunction with their season being over. Mike has kept the group together. Not surprising. … We’ll start worrying about the future when we’re through playing the Commanders on our last football game of the year.”

Sell us those stories that sell SJ!!!!

Good Job!

G O JONESES!!!!

This quote says a ton about why this front office is the laziest, most out of touch FO in sports: “We’ll start worrying about the future when we’re through playing the Commanders on our last football game of the year.”

A key component of success in the NFL is being proactive. Make plans early not later. In the NFL, if you’re waiting, you’re losing. Last off-season this FO put on a master class on how waiting to make deals is stupid. If you know you want a player or coach for next year, don’t wait until the last minute to get that deal done.

I honestly believe Jerry and Stephen are more concerned about “selling“ their decisions than actually making great decisions regardless of how the fans or anyone else thinks about it. Another reason having a marketing and sales mindset in the GM chair is just stupid.

The problem is we had dysfunction when it mattered and we weren't decimated by injuries.

MM had done a great job with the odds against him, but what happens when we are mostly healthy and secure the #2 seed??
Is that a serious question?

We will change our starting qb back to bum prescott and lose ln the first round.

If they were a good front office they would have either extended MM last year or fired him last year to avoid whats going on now. If they had extended him, they would have given him a better change for stability for him and his staff and the players., Which they didnt bc they were thinking the same thing alot of us were thinking, they didnt believe he was the right coach. Now you want to possibly justify keeping him and having him on another one year deal and have him be a lame duck coach and blame it on injuries. At the pinnacle of his tenure here, we were still undisciplined and unprepared, and he got outcoached in a lot of games and we havent progressed. So, the team having to deal with injuries, doesnt really change anything. He had more talent in previous years and couldnt get it done so ........... but again isnt surprising bc look at how they lack foresight, they are horrible at timely negotiations, they try to use the media for negotiations and they like the attention more than getting football moves done.

Again, let's be very clear here. These guys do the exact opposite of what they should do in order to get better.

They should not be thinking about winning out. Winning out just hurts them. One, it crushes their draft position. Two, it stupidly makes Jerry and Stephen think their 2024 offseason plan was correct and they will justify their complete inaction in 2025 when more talent rolls out of Dallas and they do nothing in FA to try to fill some of the holes. Three, it likely means no staff changes and frankly, there needs to be some staff changes. I'd honestly still consider a change at the OL coach position. Get a stud coach in here to work with the young guys who you are counting on.

All winning out will do will embolden Jerry and Stephen into thinking they made zero mistakes in 2024.

I thought it was pretty obviously rhetorical based on last years GB debacle.

Boy, they sound like football folks!!

I wanna go smash into something for them.
They sound like the smackdasses they are. Listening to either one of them is like smashing my head against the wall over and over cuz it'll feel so good when I stop

We really need to get blown out of these last 2 games for change If they are close we will have every one back next year !

Jerry and Stephen Jones simply want to keep winning to keep the fan base excited and still filling out their stadium. All they care about is continuing to make record money. All of you wanting wins during a season where the playoffs are out of reach are simply feeding Jerry's money-making-at-all-costs ego. For everything you blame Jerry for, by continuing to demand to win out, you are justifying Jerry's failed actions. Mediocre management and mediocre team performance at top overpaid costs.

Salute! You keep feeding that #1 troll.

The future draft picks are not going to be as sweet if we win these games.

Sounds like we are gonna run it back..

The job of GM never stops, it's 24/7/365 and Jerral is too old to do it. Also his son is too stupid to do it. Bad combo.

When when they don't have the Steak, they double down on selling the "sizzle."

It's pretty incredible how dumb and pathetic a lot of rich people are. They just don't get it and never will.
I wouldn't be so hard on the players.....a few of them actually have degrees

They the Dallas Media ALL know what side of their bread is buttered on.
Particularly when it comes to the Jones's Cowboys...
Jerry doesn't employ any of them. They need to quit being scared to ask him real questions. Really, they just need to quit giving him any air, or radio time altogether.

I did not see this squad somehow playing good enough defense to be in games with Cooper Rush. Not earlier in the season, even before the injuries. The turnaround is dynamic. Who would think this team goes out and beats the Bucs on Sunday night? They came close to losing the game but eked another win out like they did with Washington
Yes truly amazing we're winning beating playoff teams that need to win without what is theoretically our best players or at least the ones that get paid the most money.
Dak ,Zack ,And Tank to name a few.

Goes to show you less talented guys that give their all are going to play better then more talented paycheck collectors.

Yep bullet it's like my grandfather used to say failure to plan is planning to fail.

And our franchise is a case study of that scenario.
