Good point on the FO. Problem is, these days Jerruh's sizzle is more of a "Phffffttt"When when they don't have the Steak, they double down on selling the "sizzle."

Yes. They may risk getting threats about their jobs. Or have dumb <expletive> rhetorical questions thrown back to avoid answering about closing curtains and not blinding players but it would be a welcome change.Wouldn't you love for just one media member to challenge them and not let them get away with the same responses year after year?
the curtains thing is just another example of the jones boys insanity !!Yes. They may risk getting threats about their jobs. Or have dumb <expletive> rhetorical questions thrown back to avoid answering about closing curtains and not blinding players but it would be a welcome change.
The cowboys literally need 4 positions bad. the worst they could be is 19The future draft picks are not going to be as sweet if we win these games.
The Dallas media is made up of the softest, most frightened and complicent wimps in the U.S. They're terrified of asking the Jones' why the team can't get over the hump. Pansies. All of themWouldn't you love for just one media member to challenge them and not let them get away with the same responses year after year?
Nobody has the balls to do that, they love having access too much. If anybody speaks out of turn, they would lose their press pass.Wouldn't you love for just one media member to challenge them and not let them get away with the same responses year after year?
Yeah. Them..with my truck..Boy, they sound like football folks!!
I wanna go smash into something for them.
Excellent post. Lots of sad truth there. If they were a good front office they would have either extended MM last year or fired him last year to avoid whats going on now. If they had extended him, they would have given him a better change for stability for him and his staff and the players., Which they didnt bc they were thinking the same thing alot of us were thinking, they didnt believe he was the right coach. Now you want to possibly justify keeping him and having him on another one year deal and have him be a lame duck coach and blame it on injuries. At the pinnacle of his tenure here, we were still undisciplined and unprepared, and he got outcoached in a lot of games and we havent progressed. So, the team having to deal with injuries, doesnt really change anything. He had more talent in previous years and couldnt get it done so ........... but again isnt surprising bc look at how they lack foresight, they are horrible at timely negotiations, they try to use the media for negotiations and they like the attention more than getting football moves done.
Frustrating bc when you see teams like KC, Detroit getting these things right and we are still doing the same dysfunctional things over and over, its discouraging.Excellent post. Lots of sad truth there.
Agreed. Every coach is on last year of contract, we have 10 picks, ability to free 100m- I am looking at the big contracts we have and processing how much sense does it make to go another year in this same cycle of coaching. I am looking at players these next two games but Im also looking at the next wave of coaches bc I think we arent marketable to coaches bc of the Jones, but having 100m, 10 picks, some talented players and young guys who are playing well- will make a difference. No sense of wasting this moment and bringing this staff back and then using these resources and being in the same situation and then trying to find a coach after wasting this window smh. This is where I deviate from the Jones boys way of thinking. To me, it is already time to worry about the future because the team is going nowhere but home this year. I would want to know what young talent I have that's worth keeping. I need to know my draft priorities, possible free agent targets, and who to re-sign at season's end. It's not just about potential starters, it is also about who can fill in as depth. We traded a 4th round pick for Mingo. Don't we want to see if the guy can really play or if he was a bad decision? There are other young players that need time to show their stuff too.
If the front office in Dallas is not already preparing for the off-season then they are not doing their jobs. Part of that preparation is current talent evaluation. I would treat these last two games like pre-season games.
Since they shut down CeeDee Lamb for the last two games I think what they are saying and doing are not the same. I think we will see a lot of young guys playing WRs the next two weeks.Agreed. I agree we will but that should have been the case last week, CD didnt need to play last week just to be sacrificial lamb (no pun intended). I understand if he wasnt hurt but he has been. There was no need for him to play vs the Bucs. We had nothing to gain, we arent in the playoffs and we should be giving all the young players a chance. I truly hope we wipe the slate clean with coaching and with 27 impending free agents, hire a coach assess who should come back and be let go.Since they shut down CeeDee Lamb for the last two games I think what they are saying and doing are not the same. This. Mike has been unable to improve this team in key areas: playoff performance, situational football, penalties, game management, clock management, and early game production. The problem is we had dysfunction when it mattered and we weren't decimated by injuries.
MM had done a great job with the odds against him, but what happens when we are mostly healthy and secure the #2 seed??
All of these are spot on... 100%This. Mike has been unable to improve this team in key areas: playoff performance, situational football, penalties, game management, clock management, and early game production.
The guys love him and are fighting for him in the midst of a lost, injury-plagued season.
Should that sentiment outweigh the fact that Mike has not done anything here except win regular season games amidst a watered down NFC?
Again— JJ should have fired him after GB. Now, to make the right decision for the franchise may cost you more in the locker room and undo the positive vibes the team has gained as they battled adversity.
Just another decision our GM has continually mismanaged
Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones on @1053thefan: “We’re in it to win these games. I think it means a lot to this team, not only this year, but for our future.”
Jones when asked about Mike McCarthy: “He’s doing a great job right now. There are a lot of teams who would have dysfunction with their season being over. Mike has kept the group together. Not surprising. … We’ll start worrying about the future when we’re through playing the Commanders on our last football game of the year.”
