For those of you who are better at evaluating defensive players than me, what's the word on Moore? What are his strengths and weaknesses? And would you be okay with Moore starting opposite of Scandrick next year if we cut Carr?

I have been consistently impressed by Moore, but I haven't done any research on him other than his brief history in the NFL with the Patriots. I know there are some Patriots fans out there who like the guy. Obviously, Moore wouldn't be able to start in New England with Revis and Browner there.

He's short and he's slow ... but he has some smarts to cover for his short comings. I think he'd be ok starting if spent money upgrading other parts of the defense. A good cover safety would help out a lot.

2015 CB depth chart:

1. OScan
2.
3, 4 and 5. Clai/Moore/Patmon

You can bet Claiborne will be given every chance to start. He does look alot better in man coverage. And Dallas seems to be playing more of that now

Moore is an over technique corner who is best in zone. He covers his lack of speed by being VERY smart and playing technically sound. He plays physically without drawing penalties, and is a sure tackler. He will generally allow completions without risking a player getting past him, so a QB will be able to see the numbers on his player. He is most susceptible to comeback routes - because of his risk aversion and lack of speed, he isn't going to bit on many double moves and would rather allow the pass.

I think he is perfect for what Marinelli wants to do and you would probably see him look even better if there was more pass rush.

Savvy player.

As for his speed, he normally clocks in the mid-4.5s..similar to Tyler Patmon and maybe slightly faster than Green bay's Tramon Williams.. So he has the size of a corner and the speed of a free safety.

Compared to someone like Green Bay's Sam Shields or our Scandrick, he is very slow.
But those two had some pretty serious wheels.

Sam Shields is fast? I've read (I think Broaddus) that he is a physical CB that Dez can outrun if he can get by him off the line.

Based on his 40 time his speed is more in line with a safety than a corner. 40 yd dash, I know not indicative of playing speed, 4.54-4.57 at his pro day. His unofficial low is 4.49 but his high is 4.62

He is 5'9 and ran a 4.54 forty. That's small and slow by NFL CB standards so he's over-achieving by quite a bit. He's smart and plays well with the scheme. He has been a very good #3 CB but probably not the ideal candidate to be a #2 CB.

Blazing fast
4.26 to 4.3 forty fast

Broaddus doesn't think so

If you remember on DallasCowboys.com when I showed you the blueprint in handling Johnson before the Lions game, it was Shields covering him on the three different types of routes that he ran. If there is a weakness to Shields’ game, it would be his ability to burst deep if the receiver gets by him. There was a snap where Johnson released past him, and even with safety help he was able to split the two, but Matthew Stafford was not accurate with his throw.

Shields doesn’t have the deep speed to really run if he has to catch up. We could see the Cowboys take a shot or two down the field, and we’ll also see if they can run Bryant across the field and make Shields have to chase him. What could be different in this matchup between Bryant and Shields is that if Bryant can win off the line, there might not be a safety there for him to beat because of the confidence these Packers coaches have in him.

Yeah, he has good short area quickness but his speed and size are marginal. Smart as hell though and has a lot of savvy for a young guy. A very nice 3rd corner and a really good 4th corner, but he isn't a starter, IMO.

I thought he has been playing as the 2nd corner for most of this year. I think we can move pass Carr and place him there. My opinon of Moore is he win some and he loose some but has been solid. I would extendend him for several more years on the cheap.

In any situation where only 2 CBs were on the field, it was Scandrick and Carr with Moore on the sidelines.

What is up in the play of Carr? He has to be a strength for the remainder of this season...and if not, how does his future look?

Clai? No stop it. Tired of seeing this guy ruin our games.

Next year you will be glad we have him.
How has he ruined games, we were 3-1 with him until he was injured.
And he certainly did not ruin the SF game.....
