Steve Jobs is EVIL! Apple knew about iphone issue before release

Okay, the EVIL part is only my overdramatic opinion. But, with Droid and i-phones collapsing around us and the new Blackberry 9800 soon to launch, it is now obvious to anyone that does no research whatsoever that Blackberry reigns supreme!

Early in the iPhone 4's design stages, Steve Jobs was told by Apple's senior antenna expert that the antenna would cause problems, yet the concerns were ignored, according to a source who spoke to Bloomberg News.

It's BEEN obvious they knew, hence the cases and the fact that the Bumpers are the ONLY cases they sell or will sell for the iPhone 4 through their online and retail stores.

The evil part isn't even that he knew, but that they tried to capitalize by charging consumers 30 bucks for a "fix".

It's really not an issue. The iPhone 4 is the best iPhone I've ever used, by a long shot. Including reception quality.

I just played around with the new Incredible. Not very impressive. The UI's a mess and it's not at all snappier than the iphone OS. The form-factor's better, though.

BTW, to the OP, that message is being twisted out of context, btw. Apple's design team knew the bezel antenna might be a problem with the early design, but they obviously took steps to mitigate it, and they thought they'd solved the problem. Obviously, a company like Apple is not going to trash the brand advantage and design reputation they've built so diligently over 30 years to trick people into buying a $30 bumper that will be available for $5 aftermarket in no time if it's not already.

Oh, it's not an issue? Well that's that then, case closed. :laugh2:

It's not an issue on mine either. I can get the dramatic loss of bars, but a drop of 20 db doesn't affect me, since AT&T has such good service in Houston.

It's a huge PR issue, since Android is trying to build it's reputation and penetrate the market. But the usability problems aren't pronounced. It's a great phone.

If the issue can be mitigated with minimal effort that it's not a huge issue phone wise. The biggest issue for Apple is how they handled it. That on the other hand is a huge big black eye. (blaming the user was a classic Steve Jobs move)

Lets see what Jobs does today at the press conference. If he doesn't do "something" to right the ship, (free bumpers, though I think a recall is out of the question) then just stamp Steve Jobs a creative genius, but also an egoistical moron who is doomed to repeat his past.

Yeah, it's not going to be a recall, I don't think. Probably a cheaper version of the bumpers, one without the metal buttons and all that. It'll probably be more like one of those Livestrong Bracelet type rubber bands with the holes cut out.

I love your quote, Count, but everyone who has issues with the new iphone needs to take it to heart. Instead of complaining or waiting for a fix do what Steve said and don't hold the phone that way.

Could be a repair recall. Ship out replacement parts that fix the issue to all AT&T and Apple Stores and have in-store replacements free of charge to first-run iPhone 4 users.

That would be my worst nightmare. To stand in line with thousands of other people to get my phone fixed.

There are a number of reports that people who have had their phone replaced very recently have not been able to replicate the issue on the new phone.

Interesting you should say that, I just got mine replaced yesterday for a blue haze in my photos (especially of white backgrounds) and I just tried to cover up the bands and the bars didn't drop.

That would spell recall. I can't imagine Jobs doing that. That would come at an enormous expense. Something I don't think Jobs would do unless he was forced into doing it. Like the battery fire fiasco; Apple didn't have much choice in the matter. This they have a choice since the issue isn't a complete failure and it's not a safety issue.

I could totally see a soft recall.

Ugh...based on what I'm seeing from the press conference, they're not acknowledging that this issue is unique to the iPhone 4 in that it's cause by "detuning" the antenna when you "short" the two antenna.

They just found out about the problem 22 days ago? Thats not what their engineer reported.

"We knew that you could see bars drop on the phone when you hold it in a certain way"

Not sure he's saying that they just found out about it.
