Ha, I've been saying this for a while. Just don't put the separation point between the two antennas in a place where a person's hand normally would bridge the two. Embarrassing that they didn't consider this before launch.

Some of these quotes are amazing:

11:01AM - I guess it’s just human nature, when you see someone get successful you just want to tear it down. I see it happening with Google. Google is a great company. Look at everything they’ve created. Would you prefer we’re Korean companies? Do you not like the fact that we’re an American company leading the world right here? Of course we’re human, of course we’ll make mistakes. But sometimes I feel that in search of eyeballs for these web sites, people don’t care about what they leave in their wake.

You know the SlingBox? There is now a SlingBox app for Android (maybe iPhone too) where you can stream the TV to the phone. Very cool :)

SlingBox depends on your upload speed at your house (you probably know this but just putting it out there) so if you don't have a kick *** connection at home, you aren't going to get very good quality on the road.

SlingBox is good though because you can watch whatever you want. But SlingBox mobile costs like 30 in the app store.

I knew about the upload speed of course, as for the apps cost I had no idea. (just found it in the app store) I had just read about it the other day.

I'm just not that into watching TV. I have 5 TVs in the house and I may watch 2 hours of TV a week when it isn't football season.

I see you didn't have one and were just blustering because you've developed a "personal relationship" with Apple.

I don't give two craps about the company. I have no relationship to the company and I'm not a fanboy. I understand their corporate communication position. My job is to draft corporate disclosure on a daily basis. Trust me, I fully know the issue.

And I fully know they they recognize what exactly the issue is (i.e., detuning the antennas when they're bridged), but are ignoring it under the guise that "this signal issue affects all phones."

But you asked what "principle" there was for returning the phone and I gave it to you. I also explained earlier in this thread that this principle wasn't likely sufficient for me to return the phone.

But for football, I'd almost do anything to watch it. I actually wish I knew someone who had Sunday Ticket so I could pay the additional cost to get the streaming account set up. Odds are I won't be able to get DTV at my new place after I move here in a few weeks and I probably won't get as many games as I do now.

As noted in a thread I just created. I just got NFL Sunday Ticket. I'm freaking psyched about it. To finally have the NFL Network to boot!

I'm not returning the phone because it's an incredible phone, notwithstanding this issue.

I did call and officially lodge a complaint, though. And I told the customer service rep I was calling because Jobs said only 0.55% of owners had called to complain, which got a laugh out of the rep.

I kinda nailed it. I knew they wouldn't give everyone free bumpers, and they conveniently pulled them from the Apple Store so you can't even order and then get a refund, which is a bummer because I really wanted a bumper and not a full case.

I think they should have put a $30 refund towards whatever case you wanted, personally.

I don't see what the big deal is. Design flaw, yes. But how many people aren't going to buy the plastic case anyway? That phone is pretty slick and you stand a very high chance of dropping it multiple times without the case.

I bet 95 out of 100 people have cases for thier iphones.

I don't think it's that high. Most people I know don't use cases.

Rarely if ever do I see people without cases of some type or bumpers. They're playing phone roulette.

That is a remarkable phone. I would get it. It compares nicely w/ an unlocked HTC HD2 I have here on demo from a friend.

HTC's adroid phones are the best on the market. The ATT Samsung Captivate launches this Sunday and its a gorgeous phone, especially the display, but it lacks a lot of other features. The camera kinda sucks and there isn't a built in flash.

Pretty phone though.

Get that phone theebs. You wont be dissapointed.
