Psssh...no Tashard Choice love in this thread.

I don't see Choice as the complementary back to Barber that we'd be looking for. I think we go with a burner.

Matt Forte needs a mention. I'm beginning to think we should really wait til the 3rd to pick a RB.

Yeah, I can see if you were looking for that fast change of pace back he's not the guy you'd look for. But I think he's the best all around back of the all the guys mentioned.

That's why I think we pass on Felix in the 1st. There are 7 or 8 RB's that I'd be very happy to see paired with MB3 next season. Someone good will be there in the 2nd.

Did anyone see the College All Star skills competition this past weekend? Mike Hart, Jamal Charles, Tashard Choice, Mendenhall, and J Stewart all competed in those gimmicky drills. It was very interesting. Mendenhall, Stewart, and Choice are some big boys.

I think my order of those RBs would be...

Johnson
Rice
Hart
Slaton
Charles

I really like Ray Rice, but Johnson's speed is out of this world.
Are you guys talking about Johnson from Boise State?

I would love to see Rice in Dallas. My order would look like this

Rice
Slaton
Johnson
Hart
Charles

Slaton's a lot like Brian Westbrook. I like him in the 2nd, he should be there.

Really, because having watched him play many times, I remember the commentators saying that he wasn't too good with receiving the ball.

Believe me, I know. I'm an Arkansas alum.

I would not be upset at all if we took Felix at #28 but I just think with all the depth at RB, we go CB/WR in the 1st.

This is what I think as well, that we go CB and WR in the first.

I would LOVE to get Felix too but I don't see any way he lasts into the 2nd and I think we go CB/WR in the 1st. There's just too much depth there this year to use a 1st on a RB.
Don't forget that free agency will shape what our draft will look like.

Slaton played hurt most of the year. Thats why his stats were down. Hopefully he'll fall to our second round pick. I want 2 CB's in the first.

My only concern is Slaton seems to have issues w/ ball control. He puts the ball on the ground a little too much for my liking! Other than that I think he'd make a heck of a change-of-pace back compared to MBIII's style.

Totally, agree with you!

No first rounders on RB (unless...I won't say what we all know happen if s/one drops to pick #4)

Slaton has better lean, ball skills, agility and toughness than Chris Johnson. We don't need a Forte if we have Barber.

I heard Slaton was injured this year too. He's put up great numbers. Could be a PR, KR and change of pace back. He'd be a worthy 2nd rounder and a steal in the third.

You're preaching to the choir.. The whole Defensive backfield needs a extreme makeover..

saw few Youtube clips of Slaton. He really is slight. Unless someone is convinced he may produce like a Warrick Dunn, I wouldn't touch him until 3rd or 4th round. He's built for 12-15 touches max per game.

Slaton is the guy I would want more then the others. He is not a guy who can be a 20 carry back over 16 games but he's a guy who can give you 10 quality plays with the chance to break it on every play. He blocks well, he can pass block, he's a willing inside runner, he catches the ball but mostly, he's a never say die kind of player. He will do whatever you ask of him and not complain. I see Slaton as a guy who could mesh well in his role with Barber. If you take Slaton, I don't think you ever have problems with playing time or roles. I really like Slaton.
That's pretty good.

Even though Slaton's numbers were down some this season, I actually thought he improved as a RB.

He showed better patience.
He showed better vision.
He finished off runs better.
Before this year he only seemed like a speed guy.

His numbers were down but if you watched him all season like I did, every single team came into our game with a game plan of shutting Slaton down.

They would load up the box and he just had no room to motor in some games. And then, BOOM, on any given play, he is gone!

Used the right way, I think he will be exciting to watch.
Like you say, he is not a 20 carries a game back.

Some are concerned about his fumbling, but the problem was when he had a wrist or hand or something broken.

Give me Felix the Cat, even if we have to take him at # 28. We can get a WR with our second round pick. Maybe we even package some later round picks to move up in the second round. The difference between Slaton and Felix Jones? Slaton played in the Big Least. Jones played where the real men play, the SEC. You tell me which team played the toughest competition over their careers? I already know the answer.
