Steve Smith can not be stopped

I think Smith is one of the best in the league. I would trade him for Glenn in a heartbeat.

well duh, I don't think many will argue that. And if they do, they shouldn't. Smith is definitely one of the top 3 WRs in the game right now, probably arguable for #1 or #2.

I think Glenn is a top 10 or 11 guy. I think TO is a top 3 guy.
I think our trio is a top 4. I'd still take our trio of WRs over Carolina's.
Although I might take Delhomme over Bledsoe....although curiously enough, there is a backup on our roster whose game looks an awful lot like Delhomme's. hmmm

come on HH pay attention, the best cover CB in football is Shawn Merriman

he does it all...the league has never seen a player like him

I'm pretty sure thats why he didnt have any sacks today, because the SD coaches decided to have him take away one of the Cheifs WR's in coverage

Newman is the best shutdown cornerback in the NFL, bar none.

Bailey gives up catches, yards and touchdowns, but he makes some big plays, too. He's a notch above DeAngelo Hall in both regards, but Bailey is NOT a shutdown cornerback.

Yep :star:

Don't know if any of you watched the game but Smith was covered as tight as you can cover him and he still made 5 catches like that[8 total]. I mean I think on a few plays you could have stopped the game and asked the Cincy db's where would you want to be before Delhomme throws the ball and they still would have been in worse coverage than they were on a few plays that Smith made. Newman is my fav defensive player but if Smith is making plays like that no one can cover him, end of story. When healthy, hes the best wide out in the game. What is astounding is he is only 5'9 and he's out jumping the 6 plus foot defensive players.

Any player can be stopped. No doubt Smith is a great talent and having a great season thus far but he has been stopped before one team who did it was Dallas last season.

They throw him that back shoulder pass where the QB throws it behing the receiver, and the db doesn't know it is short. He is amazing, but we should roll thier o line if we turn our boys loose.

OHHHH....Drew Bledsoe could stop him. Make him look like TO '06 *snap* just like that. The guy is so talented at doing what he does he doesn't even have to try anymore. God, we're lucky to have him. I mean nobody, NOBODY, could stop TO before this year, not even the mighty Jeff Gartttttttttttthia. You want to know how to stop Stevie Smith...trade Bledsoe to Carolina, that's how.

I didn't really see him "outjumping" anyone. Both jumping catches I saw him make yesterday were when the defender didn't know the ball was coming. That one on the LB looked good in real time, but on the replay it's clear the LB didn't know where the ball was until Smith had caught it.

On the throw to the back shoulder of the CB, that CB also didn't see the ball coming. IOW, I don't think they're throwing up jump balls to 5'9" Steve Smith.

Smith is a very good player but Dallas has shut him down before and completely frustrated him to the point he was ejected from the game. No doubt he will once again be a challenge for Dallas but he can be stopped.

I think Smith is definitely the best WR in the game and yes, good passes to players like that WILL get completed on any corner at times.

And it's funny that people still point to Smith's height as some dramatic disadvantage he has to fight to overcome. Just look at Smith, Santana Moss, and Terry Glenn... All these guys are small, but quick enough to get separation. Add in strength, toughness, and competitiveness like Smith has, and you have a great player.

What games have you been watching? QBs very rarely even look Bailey's way when he is one on one. He handled Moss last week man up for a good portion of the game. Bailey is the best corner in the NFL since Deion in my opinion.

smith is one of the best in the nfl but anyone can be shut down. now what it takes to shut a guy down may not be the best way to win a game. the key with smith is keep him out of the end zone and limit his big plays and third down conversions.

TO took care of Bailey last year. Go to the 1:50 mark of the vid:

There are more of those also. Bailey makes some picks, but he also gives up some plays also.
