maybe they should shy away from USC WRs........

Colbert sucks. Keyshawn dropped crucial passes (especially against us). Jarrett sucks.

Their track record as of late is not good at all.......all those Trojans seem to bust....and that is never a good thing.:laugh2:

Jarrett has been in the league one year, it's a little soon to say he sucks. He's a big, slower receiver, he's got a lot of adjusting to do.

Maybe he'll end up being a bad receiver, but I don't think you make that claim in one year.

That other Steve Smith isn't so bad...

But my thought on this is that from reading the board, some people would tell you that what a player does off the field means absolutely nothing... That partying all you want is perfectly okay as long as you show up for work. Right? :)

Oh ok, as long as it's not football related then it's ok to stab your teammate with scissors.

By far, the dumbest freakin' thing ever posted here. And that is saying A LOT.

And about Irvin calling out teammates, I guess you don't remember him talking about the team his rookie year, how they were only there to collect paychecks?

Did I say that Rack? Your putting words in my mouth. Not surprised. Same act got you booted from the ranch.

The guy sucker punched his teammate and was suspended for it. He also called out his coach saying he shouldn't and wouldn't ever PR again after he fumbled a PR and lost the Panthers a game a while back.

I wouldn't want that type of guy on the team.

Give me a guy who will cry for his qb or one that will push his teammates like Irvin did, without crossing the line.

Or a guy like Colombo who launches CB's into a hairpin turn :laugh2:

I said slowly because I'm also referencing Keary Colbert and Mike Williams...

I won't write off Jarrett yet as it is too early, but Colbert and Williams have been disappointments...

He's not in Bustville yet ... but he's doing 90 mph in the HOV Lane to get there as soon as possible, and he's not even stopping for bathroom breaks.

The fact that the Panthers went out and signed Muhsin Muhammad and DJ Hackett in free agency to step in and play right away pretty much says it all about how much they think Jarrett can contribute in his second year.

No, you didn't out right say that, but the way you posted it implied that it shouldn't be mentioned, or wasn't a big deal, because it wasn't football related.

It's the way your post came off. "Oh well that wasn't about football so you sweep that under the rug" was exactly how that came off.

Vince Young punched one of his teammates during practice last year for hitting an offensive player in a way he didn't like, should the Titans not want him? Now of course they all had pads on (and that might have been his rookie year, now I honestly can't remember) but still the same thing happened. A teammate was punched.

I hadn't ever heard of the Smith punching a teammate thing, so I don't even know what he punches him over, so I really can't pass judgement on that. All I can say is that I'm sure that happens far more than people think during the course of training camp, or an offseason, or whatever.

Hopefully Jarrett will get it from this point forward and do what he was brought there to do...produce and ease some of the double teams on Steve.

Carolina Panthers receiver Steve Smith has been hoping to get on the team another pass-catcher who can take some of the pressure off one of the best wideouts in the game.

Last year, the Panthers used a second-round pick on Dwayne Jarrett, a guy whom many expected to be a first-rounder, but who slid due to subpar pre-draft workouts. The Panthers felt so strongly about Jarrett that they dumped Keyshawn Johnson.

But Jarrett played in only seven games a year ago, catching only six passes for 73 yards for the entire campaign.

On Monday, Smith sounded off about Jarrett’s possible future, if he doesn’t turn things around.

Asked if Jarrett is due for a coming-out party in his second NFL season, Smith said, “You know, the party session is actually over. This is the NFL. You make plays. You’re here to play football. You do the party scene at your own discretion, but on Sundays, we’re here to play football. If you can’t play football, you won’t be playing with the Carolina Panthers or any NFL team.”

And then Smith said that his comments aren’t “a poke at anybody.” Even though he was responding to a direct question about Dwayne Jarrett.
if this had been Terrell talking about Crayton...

Well, let's just say the fellas at ESPN would be peeing on themselves w/ glee

What is it with USC receivers and being lazy once they get into the NFL (seems to be a trend)

There is a BIGGGG difference between fighting FOR a teammate as opposed to sucker punching one because you lost you temper.

And for rack to compare Steve Smith to all time great teammate Michael Irvin is laughable. They aren't even the same type of people. Just do some research and watch some of his Steve Smith's interviews. Yes Irvin did make thos paycheck comments, however I don't ever recall him calling out a specific teammate, ONCE. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

The fact that Smith called Jarrett out twice instead of trying to take a very young (he was 20 last year when drafted) player under his wings, he throws the kid under the bus. I just don't see Michael Irvin doing that.

And I didn't get banned from the Ranch for any other reason except calling a mod a name. Wow, what a surprise, yet another thing you don't know anything about.

Hypocrit. You blame me for putting words in your mouth, then you turn around and do it to me.

Where did I compare Irvin to Smith?

Go ahead, look for it. Post it when you find it, Chico.

Don't come back till you find it, Punk.

I guess it's ok to call out a large group of older veterans, but not ok to call out 1 young player.

You'll have to write these rules down for all of us KD, so we know what's ok to do and what's not ok to do.

But do we know if Smith did try to take Jarrett under his wings? Maybe he did and Jarrett blew him off. I seem to remember Steve saying something along those lines during this past season. I could be wrong, but I thought Smith mentioned he and others talked to Jarrett about watching and study more game film. Jarrett wouldn't do it. We don't know how Smith and Jarrett interact in private. All we know are Smith's public comments, which aren't good for Jarrett. And we know the steps the team is making to improve their receiving corp, which also don't appear good for Jarrett.
