Winning in the NFL playoffs is what pressure is all about, not having some weekend with a hot woman. People in the media talked trash about the guy all off season last year and he didn't go to Cabo with country chick during the bye during the season. Romo should play well this week. All this crap goes away in a few days time.

He was in LA the bye week. That is the week the moron media said he was then dating britney spears.

How did that work out for the eagles?

Let see the fumbled snap last year was suppose to affect him and it didn't. His contract in the middle of the season was suppose to affect him and it didn't. Teams towards the end of last year found his weakness they didn't and now Jessica and Mexico is somehow going to affect him it won't!!!

No but what affected him the whole month of Dec. and WHY does no one want to acknowledge that before it carries over into Jan? Remember "so goes Romo, so goes the team" yes the team was bad but it started with him at the top.

he was off against the eagles, Do you think he was off against detroit or carolina....

and the washington game didnt mean squat and no one looked remotely interested not named bradie james....

and I realized that week that james was full of life and going crazy because he was miked up by nfl films for a segment on inside the nfl.

Dallas went 2-2 including a meaningless game vs Washington. We took care of our business in Dec or we would not be sitting here with HFA through out the playoffs. You can sit there and worry about Romo all you want I think the guy is a damn good QB and will show up big time in a big game as he has all season long

I don't quite get Young's point.

He's saying because he doesn't care what the perception of him is, he's adding more pressure to himself by going to Mexico. But, what pressure is being added if he doesn't care about the perception of him?

That's what Tony Romo says. But if the Cowboys lose, Romo will have to endure endless questions about Jessica Simpson, the Cancun trip and how it affected his preparation.

The media can be relentless, and I don't think even smiling-boy Romo can outlast media criticism.

Young is simply saying he doesn't think it's a big issue but why put yourself in that situation.

I understand his point clearly.

My thoughts exactly.

If he plays well and wins, then great.

But if Dallas loses and he plays poorly, that fumbled snap at the end of last year will be nothing compared to the turbulence that will occur this off-season.

I personally think the the only reason this Mexico trip gets the attention is because of Ms Simpson, and I don't see this affecting Tony's preparations for the game. Like he said with all the requests for his time when he is in Dallas it has to be refreshing to get away from that circus.

But one thing I've noticed in this thread and in others is the reference to Cabo. I was under the impression he was spotted in Cancun which in on the Gulf, Cabo is located at the southern tip of Baja.

Does anyone know exactly where in Mexico this vacation took place?

Matt Mosley said on the radio Tuesday that it was Cabo... For whatever that's worth.

Like the others said, this wasn't the smartest move. If he'd gone to Bulgaria for the weekend, would people still say he could do whatever he likes? Probably not. So there's a line there somewhere; it's just where you choose to draw it.

I remember Parcells talking about how the QB of the team needed to carry an armload of film home with him to study -- not so much to actually study, if he'd already done his work, but for the rest of the team to see. I agree with that. The leader of the team is held to a higher standard... If he doesn't like that, he shouldn't have signed up for the job.

But on theebs' point... I would agree that Cabo is 100x better than going clubbing all weekend in L.A. :)

The truth is, I think Romo enjoys all this and sees himself as some kind of new age Joe Namath. That's fine when it all works, but if it doesn't, I'm not sure he realizes the kind of heat he's going to get.

Because some may make an issue of it does not make it a real issue for Romo. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but in the end it is Romo life and he should not have to bend over backwards for the media and the fans perception. As long as he stays out of trouble and abides by the team rules then there is no real issue. Romo could have stayed in Dallas, went to church on Sunday and if Dallas were to lose he would catch hell anyways. I like the fact Romo is not trying to be everything to everyone he is who he is and is not going to change his life to accommodate what others want. I respect that.

"It is unbelievable," said tight end Jason Witten, who accompanied Romo to Cabo. "It is frustrating. You know what he is putting into it. I know the hours he has already put in this week to prepare himself.

I really don't think it was the smartest thing. After the bobbled snap and the slide the last month, he shouldnt have put this extra pressure on himself.

Is she attractive? Yes. Visually anyhow. One thing I find extremely ugly is double digit IQs and Jessica being a complete ditz lacking any type of common sense turns me off. I don't think I could spend more than 15 minutes in a room with her if she were talking. I'm dumbfounded that Romo can.

Objection, your honor. You wouldn't last 3 minutes in a room with her......;)

I don't think Romo looks at it as he is putting pressure on himself. People are putting their own spin on it and I don't Romo really cares. He has a football game to get ready for and that is what he is doing. As he said he is not going to lose sleep because some people may be upset that he actually has a personal life.

Like Steve Young, as well...Have listened to his segments on radio before and is very candid.

Pretty much echoes my sentiments on this Romo 'issue' as well...Seemed to not be smart, IMHO...With the Seattle debacle last season, the pressure on these playoffs and the poor play of late, you'd think he'd be far more aware of not adding more pressure or distraction to matters...He's always handled himself very intelligently as far as the media goes and now with the Werder crack, you wonder if there are some cracks developing in that demeanor.

Just wish it had been a regular week with no controversy

He is doing what he needs to do to get ready for this ball game the only ones making a big deal out of this are people who will not be playing in this game nor preparing for the week. Their opinion while they may be entitled to it has no bearing what so ever on this game. Those at Valley Ranch have not question Romo work ethic or his commitment to this team the only one who have are those who are not member of this team or organization. In the end Romo is accountable to those people at Valley Ranch no one else

Its pretty damn simple. If Romo wants the media to forgive and forget, he'll need to go out and play well.

If not, the media will hammer him on this, regardless if we win or lose.

And to be honest, its fair. If he plays like crap, he deserves to get hammered by the media. Tis the life of being a Dallas QB. If he doesn't like it, he shouldn't have extended his contract with us. He coulda gone elsewhere.

Play well and all will be forgotten; play like crap and you get a long offseason full of this crap.

I think he understand that if we lose some will question him I don't think he cares about that. Romo is his toughest critic he is the one working his tail off he is the one who went from an undrafted QB sitting behind 3 others to putting up numbers that no Dallas QB has ever put up in a season. The people he is accountable to is those who play with him, coach him and pays him and those people believe in Tony Romo I would hope more fans would believe in him as well but that is their choice to get wrapped up in non-issue or not. For me I'm proud of the job Romo has done thus far and damn glad he is our QB win or lose.

This is the part I don't get.

How is it unbelievable?

When I first heard that Romo and Jessica were seen in Mexico last weekend, I said, "Oh, crap. Here we go."

They have to know what the reaction will be. They can't be this naive.

It's obvious Tony isn't liking the questions he's getting this week. What was he expecting? This is what happens when you, the quarterback of America's Team, go on a weekend getaway with a tabloid magnet.

He has to know that.

If you were a fan who had paid for a ticket and travel expense to see the Oct. Tony Romo and ended up seeing the Dec. Tony Romo that looked like a high school kid looking for the north end of the south bound pig, you would wonder what was going to show up in Jan. It is easy to build a pedestal the first time around but how many are going to believe in him next Dec. when he is so nonchalantly building a bad reputation for Dec.s. I would hope he would be more aware of he fans who pay their money. And also all his team mates who were trying to break records.
