Jackson did lead the Falcons in rushing last year, but that's not saying much..I know. But he did also have 37 rushing 1st downs and 6TDs behind a horrible OL. Just saying.. ok, I'm done

let me clear this up for you, you seem to be tripping over something thoughtful but the wrong person. Nothing was asked of Jackson. Theres no pressue on Atlanta to do anything, no one expects much from them, the mere fact they are in the NFL is nothing short of "oh you guys are still here, wonderful". In Dallas, a lot more will be asked of Jackson that he cant deliver on at this stage in his career. Its nice when everyone wants anyone whos not a cowboy, ok i get it, doesnt wear the star, so hes better than what we got. On a health evaluation, ill still take dunbar because we can bounce back faster than Jacskon. Dunbar isnt the best, almost certainly at RB, but he does go forward and that wows some people, (the same people who are dazzled by a ball soaring through the air) but Jacksons downfall will be goals that will be asked of him and right now hes just happy carrying the rock not being a premier RB. Two different stages of the RB career and hes at the tail end.

Kudos for wanting a corpse because he doesnt wear the star, but a little more thought and a little more understanding of what a team is asking a player and I think you two can come to the same conclusion. Yes, teh sun will come out tomorrow, no you shouldnt be shocked if it does.

I'm good with what we have on the roster right now, but I kinda want us to bring someone in if it'll mean we can stop it with all these "we need to bring in a new back" thread that are popping up on a nearly daily basis.

I would give Synjyn Days another shot before signing Jackson.

We dont employ a pure ZB scheme. We play alot of man blocking as well. McFadden is a very poor fitin a ZB scheme, but a very good one in a man blockinh scheme

If you watch the highlight reel, you'll see that with the exception of running over the Washington player at the goal line, there's nothing there that is anything more than a running back following his blocks. It's nothing any competent back couldn't have done. I'm not saying Jackson is completely shot. I haven't watched him enough to know that for sure. But this highlight reel doesn't win me over to his cause, since I didn't see anything special in it. All I saw was that if a play is blocked well, he can get some yards. I didn't see him actually create anything.

So unless all of our backs go down, I'd pass on him.

Jackson is old and washed up. But so what? As what everyone here is saying anyone can run behind this oline. So I don't see the big deal in bringing him in.

McFadden is great if he's not injured. Then we have Randle which I don't think can handle the work load if McFadden is injured. McFadden is also better than Dunbar who like Randle is not great at blocking.

We need a bruiser and someone that can help chew time off the clock. NONE of our backs right now can do that. Thus I'm ok with bringing in just about anyone.

Good to get it out there, and for the record Dunbar has not done a lot, when I say that I mean his whole body of work . He will make a couple good plays then get hurt or vanish.

Dunbar has done nothing at all and is just a waste of roster space. I think he's the greatest bench warmer Dallas ever had. He won't see much action because McFadden is a better runner, catcher and blocker then he is. If not for him being used as a KR they should cut him and move someone like Jackson in his slot.

Yeah Jackson is old and washed up. So what? Anyone can run behind this oline as what everyone has been saying. At least Jackson will be more productive than Dunbar.

Let me begin by noting that I believe McFadden and Randle's running styles are a perfect fit behind our elite zone-blocking offensive line. But their are a number of critics (or Negative-Nancy's) that don't believe this combo will work and are predicting the worst because Murray is gone. They are the same people that ignore how much our team has improved despite the loss of Murray. The defense has improved considerably and if the preseason is any indication...this Defense could be very formidable and feared. This will give the Offense plenty of opportunities to score and quite possibly a shorter field to do so. On Offense, the OL got better with high profile additions and all the young WR's seem to have made a jump in the positive direction. The only question mark seems to be folks belief in our current RB stable.

That leads me to this question:
I'll assume Randle and McFadden are making the team as "co-starters". And although I like Dunbar's skill set and promise, he seems to always find a way to be a Non-factor during games.. but somehow, He'll probably make this team again. The real question is the fourth and likely final RB spot. I'm sure the Boys will search the waivers before this is all done and if I was betting.. they will bring someone else in before this is all said and done. That said, the naysayers keep bring up the "dirty yards", "pass-protecting", and "health" as the biggest concerns. Do we hand the fourth spot to Tyler Clutts? Has he done enough to deserve the spot.. or better yet, How much of a difference does he make for this team?

I know a lot of folks are going to roll their eyes, but how bout Steven Jackson? Yes, he's old. He isn't the player he used to be. But he wouldn't have to be as the back-up to our back-up. What he is... He was the PFF #3 rated RB in pass-protection last year. At 6'2" 240, he's a big back that is still capable to get the "dirty yards", just watch the hit he put on the Commanders player in the End Zone in the link below. He would be perfect in obvious passing situations to protect Romo, yet still capable out of the backfield on play action passes. He's been in the league long enough to understand defensive schemes and would also excel behind this line when needed in spot duty. And best of all, He wants to be here as evident by his tweeter account. He's still not signed due to the youth movement at RB in the NFL. If signed at a reasonable Vet Minimum, I believe he could prove to be more valuable than Tyler Clutts.

I like the idea of McFadden, Randle, Jackson, and (for whatever reason) Dunbar manning the back field.

Someone clearly doesn't understand what you need from backs who aren't starting
