Stevie Ray Vaughan

Just my two cents worth,

I dont know if James Marshall Hendrix was lacking any technique.....he was such a showman when he got on stage that he rarely just concentrated on playing his axe. But his albums were fantastic. You just dont listen to Jimi...u feel him.

I had the pleasure in seeing both SRV and Clapton up close....first row seats and 8th respectively and they were amazing. Loved both their styles.

Im just bias tho...big collector of Jimi's work.....the man was a genius and never reached his god given talent because of his short life span.

Got to check out the other players mentioned here......

Nice sig.

So what do you play?
What's your set up?
Currently all I own is a Fender Prodigy and a 5150 combo. And a Takamine acoustic. I can't think off the top of my head how many different I've owned, but I've always enjoyed the Prodigy the most. The only thing I've done to it is replaced a humbucker with one off a Kramer.

Why?

Let's not forget his brother Jimmy is a decent musician too.
Stevie might be a better guitar player, but I enjoy Jimmy's music just as much, if not more so.

SRV is a king in my house. I remember an 1987 Austin City Limits performance on PBS by SRV and Omar and the Howlers and both bands just blew me away.

Jimmy is very good but Stevie so much better. I watched a tribute concert once and Jimmy was trying to play one of Stevie's songs and he couldn't hit a third of the notes.

I did love Jimmy's work with the Fab T-Birds. Tuff Enuff is one of my favorite songs.

I remember exactly were I was and what I was doing when I got the news.
:(

Lay off Fenders, they are still making guitars for the 1960s.
Jackson guitars are the way to go...Fender brand now owns Jacksons, but in name only.

I believe S.R.V. will be popular many, many years from now. His music has so much rythm and so much soul, if that's the genre someone is into, they'll be quite keen to the majority of his works.
Personally, my favorite S.R.V. song would be "Life By The Drop". I'm just saying.

I've owned a Jackson. Nice guitar.

I had the chance to actually sit and talk with Stevie just a short time
before he died.He genuinely was a nice guy.We had about 20 minutes and
then they took their sound check.I've met many celebrities in my time and i
really was touched when i heard the news.Btw,it was in Palm Beach and he
just smoked the Carefree Theater that night.Roy Buchanan was also one
hell of a guitarist i believe with better musicians and a label he might have
become well known amongst the general audience.
