At the time he was drafted, I thought he was taken a round or two soon.

I also thought that I became an engineer because I wasn't smart enough to be a football coach

I am still holding out hope for CB Kelvin Joseph to develop into a solid starting CB for the Cowboys. But while the hit rate on first round picks is around 75%, the hit rate on second round picks is about 50%. The Cowboys hit big with 2nd round pick Diggs in 2020, but their 2021 second round pick might prove the statistics if he ends up being a bust.

But I still like his size and athleticism at the CB position. Unfortunately, his lack of playing experience in college has shown up, and he may not have the mental ability to play the position in the NFL.

Recently, he tweeted that he finally gets it, and this year is going to be much better. Talk is cheap, but I am still hoping for him to break out and start living up to his potential. Even if he does finally get it, he’s going to find it hard to get on the field playing behind Diggs, and former DPOTY Gilmore, not to mention two players ranked among the top 10 playing the slot in Lewis and Bland. If he does start plying better, it may still be another year before we see it on game day.
Joseph bypassed CJ Goodwin as the top Special Team player as of 2022.

Games with over 80% of ST snaps:
- Joseph 8
- Goodwin 4

if he shows a little something in preseason. I think they are going to show case him. maybe a conditional 6th or 7th.
Preseason is mostly players on the bubble and battling for jobs. No one will trade for him. If he were to show anything in camp and preseason, the Cowboys will keep him. The last thing they want is to give up on a second round pick after only two seasons.

Some players do it like Diggs and others like Joseph.

Bland offsets Joseph. Oh the stupidity.
No he doesn’t. Bland was a good hit, but he doesn’t make up for taking a big risk on Joseph in the second round where you’re supposed to get starting caliber players. You need to stop talking down to people.

I think this is the year for Joseph. His conditioning looked great towards the end of last season, and he came up with that clutch forced fumble in San Fran that redeemed all the criticism he was getting from fans.

I'm just happy they are willing to look at him playing the slot and at safety. I think he'll provide more value and depth there.
It's year three. He has to take steps up or it is likely over.

Injuries could create a path to the initial 53. An outright release wouldn't surprise me though.

They took a corner with upside. It didn't work put. No big deal. They hit bigtime on Diggs and Williams. You should check out how the other teams do at drafting. There is a reason why the current team is one of the best in the league.

I'm just not investing and hoping for Joseph,..
- Cowboys made a trade for Gilmore for a reason.
-Anthony Brown was done - not just as a starter but his career.
- Bland maybe thought of as a slot guy than an outside CB, ..
- Eric Scott Jr. -time will tell what becomes of rookie Scott Jr. but they way they traded up for him,.. the way they are giving him 1st team reps in past OTA camps. and keep in mind
that Gilmore is on a one year only contract and he will be age 33 this yr.

- Thus far Joseph cannot be trusted in sub-starting for an injured starter, got to a point where coaches preferred 3rd rd bust Wright and street FAs to fill in instead of KJ.
He's headed into his 3rd yr. and he's fallen out of favor even more so.
I just don't think KJ has the knack and savvy for CB role at the NFL level

What has helped his value by far is his special teams work where he was one of the better gunners along with Goodwin Jr. - despite Joseph's ten flag penalties

- I don't make much of his scene at safety or nickel. ..i think he's just gonna be JAG in those areas -
- But i see special teams wise, LJ makes the 53 roster ..while the team discards 3rd rd bust Wright

- Frankly i didn't have a problem with why club drafted KJ. he had game tape vs Heisman Trohy winner WR Devontae Smith ...and he measured well in workouts with a 4.35 time.
And we... no NFL team hits on every early round pick .. and we seem to have gems in 2nd rd picks Diggs and upcoming Sam Williams... here's hoping for TE Luke Scoon.

There’s no rush to cut him other than to satisfy fan blood lust.

He’s still on his rookie deal, he’s a good special teams player and adds depth at one of the most critical positions in the league.

I don’t have the personal complications that some fans have had with him since he was drafted.

I hope so... cause he's even useless on Madden. I wonder how good his character would be on GTA.

Ok, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I couldn't resist....

Other teams? Like Philadelphia? Or how about Kansas city? You know. Teams that actually go places in the post season. You’re so blinded by your blue silver glasses you think the cowboys are the only team that drafts well. It’s hilarious to watch you sit here and defend a FO that hasn’t gone to a championship game in 28 years. Kansas city got creed Humphrey. Arguably a top 3 center in the league after we go Joseph. But go ahead keep defending them.
