Not much to show for it, but I saw in Showers last night what some camp observers who've been talking about him had been saying. Too many UDFAs on the field with him, but he played with some of the same composure that Dak had.

Here's a "Down" for ya:

Coaching staff that didn't challenge that mark late in the game that forced the 4th down. Should've been a first.
He did alright.

The play where he pulled a Romo was pretty impressive.

I didnt record the game, but like i said earlier, I can think of at least 3 or 4 plays where an "average" back would have been swallowed up in the backfield, and he turned losses into at least positive yardage, with some nice cutbacks, not typically seen from "average" backs.....

I said it last night and I'll say it again, we dont need McFadden......Zeke,Morris,Jackson and hopefully a lil bit of Dunbar, we're set......

McFadden is, at this point, better than all of them. Morris may be close and Zeke could be another Emmitt, but right now, none of them have proven they are better. If personnel decision were made on hopes and opinions, the team would be the Cleveland Browns.

Based on what? Madden speed rankings?

Swaim was horrible in the passing game. A respectable NFL TE makes the grab on both of those plays, sun or no sun, good throw or poor. They were gimmies.

Blocking, different story. He did well on a couple of occasions blocking solo.

Okay, you just have your agenda I guess and I am not going to try and talk you out of it. Witten would have missed that first pass, but hey, you stick to your agenda, and I hope it comes true.

The catch he did make was the toughest of the three he had thrown his way.

Yep. But Akunne really brought the wood. Would have liked to see him on a few more.
I liked what he did as well. Active, smart and passionate, just what you want a fringe player to do. I just don't know what his spot would be.

The same was said last year about Ben Malena and Gus Johnson. Where are they now?

I am not taking anything away from Jackson, I want him to succeed, but come on, he has a long way to go yet. Put away the anointing oil please.
Don't forget Ryan Williams. I think a lot of peeps had hopes for him as well during the preseason.

Stock Up
  • Dak Prescott
  • Alfred Morris
  • Travis Frederick (really - he got a nice contract)
  • Lucky Whitehead
  • Mark Nzeocha
  • Deji Olatoye
  • Derek Akunne
Stock Down
  • Chaz Green
  • J.J. Wilcox - hard to play with a fork sticking out of your back.
  • Kyle Wilber - bad tackling game for him.
  • Andy Jones
  • Ryan Russell
  • Jamiell Showers (granted, he didn't get a lot of help, but he was clueless on that last drive with the clock)
  • Chris Brown - needs to learn where the first down sticks are when running routes
  • Arjen Colquhoun - bad penalty and bad awareness on the field on the fourth down completion on the sidelines.

I can't include players like Wilber and Hichens on the stock down. Their stock was already down. They're bums. Same with players like Frederick, Martin, Dez. Their already have pro bowl caliber stock. Playing well doesn't change it.

I had to go with players who changed my perception of them one way or the other. None more so than Prescott. Getting benched in a preseason game is downright embarrassing.

Showers? Yep. Didn't get a lot of help, and yet made some things happen. For an UDFA in his 2nd year, purty impressive. As to the clock part, makes more sense to hold the coaching staff accountable for not getting the play in or for failing to call the TO... moreover, as indicated in a previous post, on the series before LA scored, the coaching staff failed to challenge the 3rd down mark, forcing the 4th down.

Just gonna leave this here for all yall Jackson haters......

From Bryan Broaddus- Not a bad opening game for Darius Jackson and his attempt to fight his way on this roster. The numbers really don't tell the complete story of his night. The majority of his carries were made with him having to avoid a defender right in his face. Jason Garrett likes to call them "dirty runs," and there were more than his share. He appeared to have a nice feel of when and where he needed to cut the ball in order to have any chance for positive yards. His night on special teams was productive as well – though he did have a muff as a kick returner. I also liked what I saw from him covering kicks as the R2. He was relentless in the way he hammered Rams blockers.

so its settled, Stock UP.....and before one of yall says "Broaddus is a hack" or some trash, he's at least more knowledgeable than ANYBODY else here, dont care who you are....
