Stop And Lets Think

I said at the beginning of the year, before one game was played, that Cortez would cost us at least 2 games. I was wrong. Looks like it's probably going to be in the 3-4 range if he's not fired first.

Cortez, he didn't throw the pick that gave Seattle the winning score. He also didnt miss any wide open receivers in the Commanders and Raiders games.
Just 7 games into the season and Bledsoe has lost 3 by himself, but who's counting. After all, he is our upgraded qb.

There was very little reason to put him in that position to make that error.

There were 40 seconds left.

It was raining.

We did not protect Bledsoe very well all day long. Petitti was a turnstyle to Fisher, our expensive guards were letting Darby get penetration.

Our snapper had a poor day.

Our kicker cannot make a 29 yard FG, let alone a 50 yard FG.

We should have taken our chances in overtime.

Exactly, but Bledsoe's throwing into coverage precluded that and blaming the rain on that poor decision is rediculous and he had plenty of time on that play to make a good decision.

Don't blame Parcells, he built this team and he coaches this team. He's gotten rid of almost all of the players from the previous regime. If the players are at fault, he picked and coached them.

Parcells can't get out there and play himself, at some point you gotta blame them and that point is when they don't execute, like this week.

It's great we're looking "good" in losses so to speak (as opposed to getting blown out), but if we finish the season 9-7 and miss the playoffs, but lost six games we "should have won," it ain't gonna matter.

This is my main concern. Like you said, it won't matter that we looked good or played teams tough in losses when we're on the outside looking in come playoff time.

most people have acknowledged it was a bad throw, as did Bledsoe

that said, it was an idiotic decision by Parcells to make that call anyway

The plain facts are that we came into this season:
  • Determined to learn the 3-4 & make it our base defense.
  • With 10 rookies on the active roster- two are undrafted free agents.
  • Having brought in over a dozen free agents before & during training camp, & another four or five just before the season or after a game or two.
  • Starting one rookie, (D. Ware), & putting several others into key backup or special teams roles.
  • Starting another new veteran at QB who had to learn the system & develop a chemistry with his entire offense.
  • With Sean Payton performing the duties of Offensive Coordinator/Play Caller for the first time in his career.
I could go on, but you get the point. This is not an excuse session, but a trek into reality. This team has had to do more adjusting & learning on the fly than most this season, and have not only been competitive in every game they've played, but led almost every one until the final minutes.

Although I utterly HATE this team's stance on kickers, (tell me, who are the all-time scorers in NFL history?), and I am still reeling from yet another loss that should have been a win, I am elated that we have all of the above as deterants against us, yet we are at the edge of something very special.

Once we get all of the pieces working together, this team is going to be the Patriots of the second half of this decade....maybe better. BP will be gone when we are playing our best football, and I hope he smiles just a little watching us win all of those Super Bowls.

..Still tho' we had Washigton beat with less than 2 minutes left. IT WAS IN THE BAG BOOK IT!! and we had Seattle Beat within 2 minutes left! BOOK THAT ONE!

we'd be 5-2 EASILY!!!....cuz even tho we did eventually lose those two games, because of our stupidity and lackness of execution, this would be our record. and havin Arizona @ home, i think this team SHOULD OF BEEN 6-2 by the BYE WEEK.

Its gonna cost us!! Especiall in the NFC East, these losses..are KILLERS....

Only good thing today is OUR DEFENSE! Our lack of execution (FG, TDS) is just killin us....

What's so funny about posts like this is that they take into account the games we should have won but don't consider the games we should have lost.

Realistically, we could also be 1-6 (with losses to San Diego, Oakland, San Francisco, Washington, Seattle and the Giants).

As Parcells says, you are what you are.

This is an average team getting better by evidence of pulling out three games we could have loss and losing three games we could have won.

I'm not going to put more into this version of the Cowboys until they show me they can beat teams comfortably, meaning not within the last minute of the game.
