We have a defense that has imploded.

Is it Zimmer's fault that Parcells is so muleheaded that he won't go back to the traditional 4-3?

Parcells bulled his way into Dallas with hopes of a 3-4 defense, still with the hots for Lawrence Taylor and visions of New York of days past.

Parcells jammed this defense down our throats and now Zimmer has to pay the price?

Parcell's beloved 3-4 is a reactive defense that does not help the middle provide pressure up the middle. Parcells' defense stops the run. That's it. It does not help the horrible secondary. It does not help the puny line pressure the QB.

Is it any surprise that our pressure of the QB is nonexistent?

Truly, the defensive scheme is a mess. But that is Parcell's baby.

Have you Zimmer bashers ever stop to think why Zimmer has consistenty had good defenses until the 3-4 arrived.

I say keep Zimmer and throw Parcells and his days of yore 3-4 back to the stinkhold of New Jersey that BP loves.

Zimmers the most immediate person associated with the defense, bam, he gets first shot. You cant fire 11 players, so one assistance coordinator suits the mob better. Dont worry, Parcells is next on the hit list. GROTA is my new mantra. I hate our staff.

Zimmer is the defensive coordinator he deserves to take the heat. The defensive players continually make the same mental mistakes, have missed assignments and the scheme is horrible.

Dallas has one of the biggest Dlines in the league they average like 304 lbs, hardly puny.

Zimmer was never any good before Parcells got here...we never had a pass rush and we were always near the bottom of the league in big plays and turnovers...we always blew leads in the 4th qtr

he isnt the sole problem now, but I bet nobody rushes to get this guy as a DC if he is available after the season either

The only thing that is Parcells fault is not canning Zimmer and bringing in a real 3-4 DC.

What the hell has Zimmer ever done to be defended week after week? How many piss poor defensive efforts must we go through each season before his name is thrown out there? How many late season defensive collapses must we see?

Zimmer is a tool. He is in charge of coaching the defense. He is supposed to teach technique. He is supposed to create a blitz package. He is supposed to create a defensive gameplan that actually stops the opposing offense.

Only problem is that Zimmer isn't creative enough to do any of it. He has never been any good.

He has to go. So does Parcells. They are both done here in Dallas. They both lack creativity and have no spirit whatsoever. You need both in today's NFL.

Get rid of T.O. too.

And is it a wonder the defense keeps making mistakes? They are getting instruction from various defensive coaches and Parcells for good measure.
And this is a team making the transition from 4-3 to 3-4 which Parcells swears by.

You can see the fruits of Parcells grand defensive plan. The secret is out. Any decent QB can pick apart our secondary.

With this type of play, the 'Boys cannot be competitive in the playoffs. And right now the playoffs are looking iffy.

Parcells is at fault as well no doubt about it. But 4-3 or 3-4 Zimmer would still not get it done. Parcells is at fault for personel decisions. The defense is just too slow to be effective.

But the gameplans are horrible as well. Bland, predictable...coupled with poor technique by the players and it spells disaster.

He had the #1 defense in 2003 when we went to the playoffs

But Yeager, that's a HUGE fault on BP's part.

Let's imagine for a minute that while JJ is "CEO", that BP is the acting "President" of this business.

The "President" has appointed someone to run the offense, defense, and special teams. If he gets the wrong guy to run the defense, it's the President's fault.

On top of that, this "President" has had several years to get the right guy in to do the job, but has decided to stick with Zimmer. This just COMPOUNDS the mistake.

BP has absolutely no one to blame but himself.

And I think JJ also has/is coming to this conclusion.

I agree....I hoped from day one that Pacells would get rid of him.

Do people forget just how bad our defense was with the 4-3 back in 2004? It makes this defense look like the 85 Bears.

The issues are we can't disguise a blitz and Zimmer can't figure out how to stop passes out in the flats. It's a problem, but not nearly as bad as in 2004 where we couldn't stop the run or the pass in any shape or form and we certainly couldn't rush the passer.

I don't know what the heck BP was thinking. Maybe BP wanted someone he could control and mould? So he kept Zimmer.

But it's obvious to me that I think there needs to be a shake up done on the defensive side of the ball.

That has to include coaches and probably a player or two.

The more I think about it, I really wonder unless we advance far into the playoffs, can Zimmer really keep his job here in Dallas? I think from what JJ said yesterday, heads have to roll.

In any other business organization, heads would roll somewhere down the organizational line. If not BP's, and definitely not JJ's, then possibly Zimmer.

There's no turning back to the 3-4 now.. All of these players are great for the system, the problem lies in the lack of utilizing all of this talent. All of these guys are becoming wasted talent as long as Zimmer's still at the helm.

What we should of done is go after DOM CAPERS last off-season.

Zimmer was not successful before BP got here anymore than he is now. We are always supposed to have this vaunted defense pre & current BP. But the results are always the same. Give up big plays, no pass rush. It can be 4th and 50, Zimmer blitzes, 1st down oteher team, if we are lucky it's not a TD.

He sucks. He had his chance to leave if he didn't like the 3-4, but chose the $$$ [another stupid move by JJ].
I actually thought with the draft we had and a full season of learning this 3-4, he would be real good. But I got suckered into the kool-aid drinking, only to find out it is radiator coolant instead.

We don't have the personnel to run the 3-4 properly. You need a big enough and aggressive enough front 3 to cause fits and demand double teaming. You need at least 4 LB's that can make plays and fly around the ball and create havoc. You need a FS with the ball hawking skills of a CB. That allows Roy Willams to play closer to scrimmage and to 40-50 yards downfield deep all the time.

Our D-Line gets manhandled. We only have one LB that can make plays and he gets double teamed out the play. We don't have a solid FS, so Roy is always playing centerfielder, and he cant make plays.

I really believe we need a new DC......

I will always appreciate Zimmer because he worked hard to bring us 3 world championships .......or a big part of it!
