Stretch Smith on the Cowboys offense

That is amazing. I don't even understand how that can be. I think someone said in another thread, no wonder our big plays happen on breakdowns when Romo is running around dodging people and the receivers can just run to an open area. Looks like the truth.

I've said this many times only because I get their games in my area, but watching the Texans offense is something. I recorded their game against Seattle and was watching part of it last night and they spring guys wide open all the time, both their tight ends and even Andre Johnson, who you know gets a ton of attention before the snap. And that's with a relatively simple system that's had tape out there for years now and an average QB. That's what play action plus some waggles and crossing routes will do.

In fact, if I'm going to dream, if they had a down year and fired Kubiak, he might be my #1 OC we could possibly get. Tony would so kill it in that system. I know it would never be possible unless Garrett got fired and we got a defensive-oriented HC, but my gosh that would be great.

Houston fans would gladly give him up, they accuse him of the same stuff Dallas fans accuse Garrett of. Time mismanagement, Unimaginative offense and too predictable. As was pointed out they too are 2-2

There are probably 28 NFL fan bases ready to fire their head coach, too.

It's the easiest thing to say when you don't want to put any thought into it.

That's about the least persuasive argument ever. There are always going to be fans complaining. Sometimes it's justified and sometimes it isn't. In Houston's case, they've set the bar very high the last few years. We definitely haven't.

I agree, but what is said here after a loss can be easlier heard on sport radio with fans calling in. How Garrett is described here is how Kubiak is described here in Houston. All one has to do is listen to the call in shows after the games.

You got that right there are always fans complaining in Houston case they have never won jack be it Oilers or Texans their bar is not overly high. Fact is the same kind if idiot complain here in Houston as they do here, people who love to think they know how to do the job yet could not oversee a pee wee football team but they all have the solutions. lol

So... Fans complain about Bill Belichcik. Fans also complain about Dave Campo. Therefore, Bill Belichick and Dave Campo are the same. Is that what you're saying? Because otherwise, even mentioning fans complaining about all coaches is meaningless.

And this was a discussion of offensive systems. I gave an example of one system that I -- and I am hardly alone in that -- think is much better than ours. I never said I could do better than Callahan or anything of the sort. Let's try to stay on topic for once.

You guys needn't waste your time hoping for next years offensive coordinator.

I am sure when mike Zimmer is hired he will have a wonderful coordinator to bring with him and Jerry will tell us how innovative said person will be.

From what I saw in all-22, the first quarter they run a lot out of 2-1 but they also ran stack right and 2 TE's strong side next to each other, sending them both out as receivers. They ran the same formation with motion twice and the first netted a nice gain with the TE crossing left to right. The very next play they ran the same formation with same motion...the TE was bracketed with 2 LB's left to right but then Johnson was open on a nice deep in across the middle in front of the FS. Nice way to clear out the middle of the field.

Not really accusing Garrett. I just looked right at it.

Have to admit, I have not liked the design of this offense for some time now.
I know Romo is a big Sean Payton fan. Iw ould like more of that agressive style. And when it is rolling, it nets plenty of ground yards too.

Jason garrett is an idiot,I will be the happy to see him get the boot even though it means we sucked this season,he sounds smart but never does smart things on the field.

Garrett IS intelligent, but he is not innovative. As an intellectual he collects systems rather than creating creating systems. Tom Landry, Bill Walsh, Paul Brown, Don Coryell are genius level innovators.

Forget genius, Garrett is not even Norv Turner level. Norv, at least, has an offensive philosophy that he knows inside and out, and he can implement in one off season and show dividends in that very season. Garrett continually tinkers/talks to compensate because he is not an expert on his own offense.

Garrett is a good guy but so raw as a coach. He hasn't earned his bones and everyone knows it. And as much as his players like him, when things get tough, it is only human nature that doubt will creep in.
