We had a ditch behind out neighborhood. We used to go down there and have dirt clod fights in the ditch where it curved around. (we were on each side of the curve so you could hid when you didn't have a dirt clod to throw) You became a man quickly, because when you got hit you did not cry. Otherwise, it was no longer teams against each other. It became all against the one crying!

You grew eyes in the back of your head because sometimes. Those dirt clods hurt like hell!!! Why we continued to do it after getting hit a few times I don't know other than it was a lot of fun when you weren't getting hit!

Also, we used to have this field behind out neighborhood. There was a pond with an electrical tower on it. On many occasions I climbed to the top of it and stood up with nothing to hold on too. Yeah, that was dumb. Not sure how I thought that was a good idea back then lol

Here is a picture of the exact tower from Google Maps.

We used to have spear grass wars. We would partner up into teams. It was fun. One time, I used a red herring. We fought for a while and then I had saved up a huge handful of spear grass, but I yelled to my partner, "Help, I'm out of spears." This provoked an opposing kid to run straight at me, thinking he had an easy kill, and then -- WHAM -- I unloaded all those spears into his chest. He was POed that I tricked him like that. ha ha ha ha

I still have a scar on my head from the dirt clod fight that someone threw one with a rock in it at me. Didn't cry. I just walked 7 blocks home covered in blood as adults freaked out.
