Excellent work.
IIRC the TOP was about 38-22 in the Cowboys favor.
The running game was better for multiple reason, IMO. They changed things schematically in the run blocking. They used more man concepts and the man-zone hybrid stuff. Leary had been a shell of himself when he tried to play though the Groin injury so getting Collins in there was a big help. Martin seems to finally be 100% after not looked good early in the season while playing through the affects of the neck injury that kept him out of the preseason. Hanna being back likely helped also. Having a QB that is a threat to throw more than 3 yards helped to prevent the defense from loading up against the run.
My fear before that game came true which was that they might get too aggressive in the passing game.
The problem as I see it:
Games with Weed: Conservative QB that was coached to be conservative.
Game with Cassel: Aggressive QB that was coached to be aggressive (I think Jerry and the FO insisted on a more aggressive approach).
In retrospect they should have coached Weed to be aggressive or coached Cassel to be conservative.'
The irony is that if they had the offensive performance they had against the Falcons with Weed, they likely would have won this Giants game with the improved running game and all hands on deck on defense. They were in both the Falcons and Saints games and just needed the QB to be slightly more aggressive.
Side note, people want to know if the 1st INT was on Cassel or on the WR; however, it was actually on Doug Free because he got pushed back into Cassel and his man got his hand up at the last second forcing Cassel to alter his throw.
On the end zone INT, the defender rake his arm across Williams face mask which prevented him form seeing the ball and getting over to defend against the INT. It should have been a penalty.
