I can't link it. You know where he is. In his most recent piece he makes the following statement when asked how the personnel packages on offense will change this year under McCarthy.

After breaking down their personnel usage last season he says the following:

Somehow, this team was so ill-prepared at receiver that it had to basically stop running its offense because it did not have NFL wide receivers anymore.

-

Whoa. Now let's say he's right. Pretty damning of the front office but does Brandin Cooks change that? Obviously he helps but is that enough? Are we going to rely on a rebuilt (and overrated) Michael Gallup and a Jalen Tolbert sighting (other than a few blurred images floating around the internet) so we are free to run the offense we want to run this year?

I like Brandin Cooks and he certainly is worth the cost to obtain him but the WR position still makes me feel uncomfortable. I want to surround Prescott with so many weapons that even he can beat the 49ers in January.

This thread is about RECEIVERS, not Dak Prescott.

Does not matter if you are a Dak hater or homer. Use one of the many other threads to post your constantly repeated opinions on Dak.
Can you put this statement in 90% of the other threads going forward please. This is exactly what needs to happen!

We need a seriously good pass-catching TE. That is probably the biggest piece we are missing. If Cooks, Lamb, and Gallup aren't enough to get it done then nothing will be.

Giving Cooper away was a genius move.

This is the issue I’m having with a lot of this hindsight opinions….if Dak sucks, Mike can’t coach, Zeke is finished….receivers suck….how in the hell did we win 12 games? Especially with Jerry at GM? It’s not adding up.
Defense was very good and Dak is very good. Heck even Rush could win a few games. Pollard was great and Lamb is a stud.

Gallup should be much improved this season, and that would make a lot of sense.

But between Cooks, a better Gallup and a likely high draftee….and the idea of wanting to run more, or maybe adding a 1st round TE…..they will have done enough by the time the bell rings.

It’s a matter of avoiding the injury bug and executing.
There will be no high WR draft pick. Not in the first two picks anyway.

I think I will just start suspending people who hijaak non-Dak threads trying desperately to turn them into Dak threads.
Glad to hear you are thinking about it. Honestly. There are trolls that come on here daily simply to aggravate loyal Cowboys fans. Never understood why its allowed.

Dak banter is one thing, but why let it infect every thread? Its the #1 cause of insults and negative energy on here.

You have my vote.

I think if anything they could use a Beasley type, which I’m surprised they never replaced as a Dak weapon. They worked well together.

You can get those guys that are missing ideal size later, or even UDFA….yet they still can make plays. We need to add that.

Lamb/Cooks/Gallup are here but people think it’s not enough because since Gallup wasn’t ready last year, and that means he never will be.

Those are a damn good top 3 for a team that claims they want to run more. The TEs aren’t awful either.

Michael Gallup has been a 1,000 yard reciever when he was a no.2 (season before Ceedee) and was an 800 yard receiver as a no.3. I get he was horrible in 2022 and there were some hamstring issues which cut his season short before that, but you can’t re-write history on how he’s performed.

Im fine with a stud TE, but another high WR is overkill. Oline is much more important. This also is NOT a good draft for WR's.

Im sure they are going to be counting on the 3rd round pick from last year as well.

He's talking about the 2022 season and no competent front office should have expected him to return to form so quickly.

Yeah I'm at the head scratching stage part of the team that claims to want to run more with a 12 million dollar Cooks, Lamb looking to cement a WR1 contract and Gallups guaranteed signing bonus escalator for this year. Lotta money in that WR room.
Throw in all the rumors of a top TE as their 1st round pick and it's slightly even harder to see that run the ball more mantra. Just slightly.

No need to reply here with the worn out efficiency and when to run the ball bull crap either.
That's horse _ _ _ _ too.

As with anything, follow the money and in this case, the coach's entire coaching history.
The passing game.

Poor Mike.

Sheesh.....at the time, I thought it was a flawed WR Scheme and placed the blame on Joystick. But with prevailing facts (Cap Boy and McClay royal ** WR projections), it appears Kellen somehow created a dish out of Lamb and steakums....

Weapons are great but Dak needs the time to get the ball to them. Protection is crucial. I mean nothing new here but I wonder if our line is good enough.
