Again, why is it so hard for people to put blame on multiple areas?

Why are some of you so hell bent on trying to place majority of the blame on just one person or one group?

That loss falls at the feet of multiple areas - coaching, the crappy defense, the awful QB.

Why are people trying to make this out to be much harder than it is? The defense was brutal. But the offense, with that backup QB, managed 50 yards of offense over 30 minutes of football. That's horrid.

Yeah to me coaching and game plan was the worst, and they did not adjust.

No, he won't. The blocking and the inability of the passing game to back the defense off the line is the problem with the running game.

The Cowboys win the Atlanta game if they had swapped FBs beforehand.

this is a true statement.

Anybody still want to make the case that the real problem was the backup QB completing 85% of his passes on mostly check downs?

Yes. Consistent 3 and outs kept that cluster truck of a defense on the field.

Football is a pretty simple game when you boil it down to its roots. Sure, we see it present itself in new places with new names every new year, but the basic tenets of football reveal themselves every Sunday in the following way: Blocking and tackling. In other words, can my guys block better than your guys can tackle? Can my guys tackle better than your guys can block?

Well, on Sunday, everyone who followed football knew the Cowboys were going to have their hands full with Julio Jones. He is awesome and maybe the best in the business as of this moment. But, nobody in the world expected the Cowboys, who had just been praised for limiting the Eagles running game to 7 yards on 17 carries, to be beaten into a bloody pulp by Devonta Freeman. Freeman is a talented young player, but up until this day, in 2 seasons in the NFL, he had 87 career carries for 291 yards (3.3 per carry). So, who anticipated 30 carries for 141 (4.7)?

Welcome to the NFL, where you better bring it every Sunday.

Another tasty little nugget? I looked back over all wins under Romo since 2007, and I could find NONE where the Cowboys scored 0 pts in the second half of play. Combined with 400+ yds surrendered + 0 turnovers, it is not difficult to understand why they lost spectacularly.

I don't disagree, I do put more on the coaches for the simple reason I feel Weeden was not going to alter the game plan and I think the game plan was for Weeden to throw the high percentage passes and avoid the major mistakes. Once you start seeing how the defense is playing you in the 2nd half I think Linehan should have gotten with Weeden about taking shots down the field. I just do not think a backup QB is going to take it upon himself to alter what is being asked of him.

I think that is what happened.

Absolutely. What more needs to be said?

Hit the coaches for not recognizing the situation and telling their soldier to change the tune of the music they were trying to play.
Weeden was being a soldier.

Romo is a Captain: he can take the team by the reigns and run it how he sees fit within the structure of the offense.
Weeden is a soldier.
He takes commands and executes them. Nothing more, nothing less.

You know how you handle that as a defense? Get some turnovers and three and outs of your own. Instead of, you know, giving up multiple 80 yard scoring drives. Time of possession is not a convenient excuse for sucking.

Yep, I do think if Weeden continues to backup that he will be given more leeway as he gets more comfortable in the role. This week I do think we will see him taking some shots down the field. Short passing game will still be a big part of the offense but then the short passing game is part of the Cowboys offense even with Romo behind center. Given a lot of the blown coverage that is to be expected of a Rob Ryan defense I think this game will be much different than vs Alt

It's all relative tho. You're acting like we had the all world defense out there. The line was second string at best.

On this Sunday it was the offense that needed to fill the role of TOP hogs. It needs to work like that sometimes when a squad is weakened for one reason or another.

The offense failed to hold up their end of the deal with a crippled, gassed low talent defense.

Nick Hayden was the best DLineman on Sunday............and you want turnovers?

Offense is hurt as well 2 of the teams Key starters are out. How many times has people said Romo is the #1 player we can ill afford to lose? Dez as well very high priority is gone. Offense putting up 28 points with no help from the defense I would say they did their part. Could they have done more I would agree but defense did nothing

I have no idea what Bishop is doing on this play. That is all an mental mistake because he does not get blocked away from the hole. He takes himself away from the hole.

I think he thought it was a pass and they were planning to run stunt and Lawrence was going to loop around inside of Bishop.

Lee was not good on that play either. I think RoMc might have been able to shed that block by the FB better than Hitchens.

Bishop was not too bad on this play. It was a Zone Stretch to that side so he has to flow that direction. It's hard to see but I think the OL was holding him which delayed his ability to stop his momentum and get back to the RB.

Hitchens was trying too hard to get outside and was delayed on the cutback.

I think Gachkar was held by the blocker.

He might have been held but didnt really look like it from the birdseye view. He shoulders were too perpendicular to the LOS or should have been using his right hand more with the flow. As such he overran and inadventantly created a bigger hole. decreasing that lane would have made Gachkar more in play
