This is a great report from Bob Sturm. I appreciate his hard work and diligence. What stuck out to me was that Dallas really benefited from a terrible performance by Jake Locker. When you couple in the fact that the offensive line and the running game was dominant and physical, the defense was highly protected.

Until Romo shows ME that he is 100%, this is how the Cowboys will win football games.

A hot quarterback will give the Cowboys problems.

It shows me he was, in part, pressured into bad throws.

It was pretty clear Locker was rattled. The DL was getting push. Especially inside due to Melton. And this was not a bad opposing interior line. Sometimes you win matchup on particular Sundays and it is good when it happens. Now, consistently doing that is the key.

Until they start giving you points for so many yards then yeah that is pretty much it. Most stat sights I see tend to determine the quality of a defense based on yards same with offense but simple fact is it is all about points scored and points given up.

Thank you for that insight Donny...

On a really great thread and with good work, leave the tar and feather comments at the burn barrel.

Yep, that is pretty much what I think too. The fact the the Cowboys got out front early and Tenn had to depend on Locker (who couldnt hit the broad side of a barn) to beat them with his arm played a huge role in deciding this game.

Oh believe me I know, many use padded stats to justify $100Mill contracts...

Whoo!
You turned this argument like a pro!

Never saw that coming! (Maybe I should have...)
I'm not saying I agree or not- but that was a shotgun to the face!

How many teams do hot quarterbacks not give problems?

That was the one saving aspect of the pass rush, even though they rarely got away from their blockers to make a sack they did collapse the pocket...

Pretty much the story of Seahawks against Peyton in the SBowl........1 sack, but pressure every time he dropped back, would've sworn he was sacked numerous times

Great work. You have about a 20% chance of losing a game with a +2 takeaway margin. So if you manage to lose those games they are going to stick out.

I need to just let it go and focus on my own denial about that 6th pick...

Thanks Bob! There are very few people that write things worth reading regarding this team, it's mostly shallow fluff and lazy narratives. These reports of yours are pure gold!

That stat is true, but my report was not discussing a "+2" turnover margin. It was discussing "2 takeaways" which has nothing to do with a margin or an offensive performance and does not normally have a 80% success rate. I think the stat I used is far more uncommon to correlate to victory.

Thanks for reading and commenting, gents!

I understand. My comment was not meant to be confrontational merely educational for some of the gang here who may not be aware of that stat. And you're right. You have to look at the ebb and flow of a game at any given moment to get a picture of what the 'odds of winning' are.

What stands out to me is Mo. Look at the chart.
There were only two passes completed to or outside the numbers on his side.
One of those was Walker's TD and the other was behind the line of scrimmage.
There were actually only 8 total attempts to the left side of the hash marks.
That's astoundingly low.

I know he wasn't credited with many splash plays but that's pretty much shut down CB play when they don't even test you.

Blasphemer! Didn't you know, he's awful and must be traded! Biggest bust ever!
