I think some of you guys are going to be real bummed when the Cowboys open the season with McFadden as the starter.

I have no idea what any of you guys have seen that makes you think this team likes to throw rookies to the wolves.

Zeke may very well be the starter shortly into the season, but great college blocker or not, this team is not going to trust Romo to a rookie.

Rookies who started day 1 for us

Tyron Smtih, Travis Frederick, Zack Martin, Morris Claiborne....

I already said he probably won't make the team and people came out of the woodworks trying to argue against the notion.

HE MIGHT NOT MAKE THE FREAKING TEAM.

Alfred Morris is a better fit and a durable #2 option. Darius Jackson looks to be the real deal as well.

Let McFadden battle it out with Morris in camp but ultimately I think McFadden is gonzo.

Nice post btw.

Morris nowhere near the pass protector and pass receiver that McFadden is. He's a one-trick-pony...running the ball. The receiving and blocking aspects are huge in Linehan's offense, which I think puts Morris at far me significant risk than McFadden.

Morris and DMac will both be on the 53 as long as Dunbar is on PUP. Once that time is done, I won't be surprised if either Dunbar or Morris gets released.

If Dunbar is healthy I take him over DMC in a heartbeat. If not I try to sign someone similar to Dunbar.

I am not worried about DMC getting signed by another team. There will be 2 dozen guys like him on the WW.

I think Dunbar could be upgraded without much trouble. He is very limited to certain plays that he can have any type of success running. He has been on the roster for too long without having much of an impact. With his injury, it should be time to move on to a RB that can be used in more situations.

I totally disagree with this assessment.

McFadden was the only sign of life on offense and the defense stacked the line to stop him. 4.6 ypc with no passing game at all. Given a whole season, he would have put up even bigger numbers. No doubt he will absolutely be on the roster and is a bargain.

I'd bet his avg per carry goes up with a whole year to get the system and be in shape and healthy while Shakeing off the rust and disillusionment of being a Raider.

Zeke by mid season will in all likelihood be the center piece but I expect McFadden to come in and gash teams in part time work. I think McFadden gets another contract after this year.

I hope you are kidding about him getting another contract in Dallas. He is old and has a history of injuries. This last year was the exception, not the rule. DMac had the best stats that resulted in the least impact of any RB that I have ever seen. I know that some posters was really impressed with him, but I am not one of them. Most average RBs would have had just as good of a season ,if not better, running behind this oline.

These coaches have not trusted rookies in the past. I think it has hurt the development of players at times.

Don't disagree with you on that one.

And I don't think they're going to start trusting rookie running backs now– not when it involves blitz pickup.

Mcfadden's running style isn't suited for the nfl he runs too upright and can easily be tackled.

We'll see. I'm not at all kidding.

I don't get why people can't just be happy...
...unless everyone was completely overjoyed with Phillip Tanner or Tashard Choice.
Hey now, word has it that Tashard Choice is doing one heck of a job during his first week as assistant assistant to something or someone.

That's a good point. McFadden is a pro and knows how the roster is shaping up. Cutting him early does both him and team a favor

I'd rather have DMC than Morris. I think DMC is the better ALL AROUND RB. If Zeke goes down id rather have DMC running the ball than Morris

I'm thinking the staff will rely heavily upon what they see from our RB corps in practice and training camp.

Their roster decisions are more than likely to appropriately reflect the results of many demanding tests.

Right now, it's virtually impossible to accurately predict what their decisions might come to. We'll see.

I was just talking about a choice between Dunbar and DMC. I would gladly upgrade Dunbar as well.

Our fans infatuation with mediocre RBs is mind blowing.

So, was Murray a great running back and if so, where was his greatness in Philly?

Hey now, word has it that Tashard Choice is doing one heck of a job during his first week as assistant assistant to something or someone.

I'm sure he is the Assistant Director of Photocopy Operations and Film Projector Logistics, but he was always considered a good teammate. Asking Vick for an autograph was kind of a knucklehead move, but beyond that he seemed like a good kid.

Besides, it seems generally like most good coaches were terrible players - and vice versa.

I'm gonna disagree w sturm. I keep McFadden since he's a proven commodity ( 1000 yds last year in 9 starts w decent pass blocking). He knows the system and the players now, so he's more comfortable. I don't care about the cap costs, he's on a short deal and will be off the books soon, besides we got plenty of money and can redo/ extend contracts to open up more space if necessary, but we don't need it - I don't see them signing anymore big free agents.
