This doesn't hinder until next season and the line can exist without Martin, now. And the 3 large can easily have the can kicked down road and room made not to waste the talent of both Parsons and Lamb.

Other than locking up Micah Parsons long-term, re-signing Odighizuwa should be a top priority for the Cowboys. The 3-technique is one of the most important positions in Matt Eberflus' defense, making No. 97's return all the more important.

  • DE DeMarcus Lawrence
D-Law was off to a really good start in 2024 before a foot injury ended his season prematurely. Although he's on the wrong side of 30, he's still an ideal fit in Matt Eberflus' defense and would provide some much-needed depth/experience to the position.

  • CB Jourdan Lewis
DaRon Bland is the only CB the Cowboys can count right now. Re-signing Jourdan Lewis would add much-needed depth and experience to the position as well as lesson the need to use a premium pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

  • LB Dre Greenlaw
Greenlaw missed the majority of the 2024 season, but is still considered one of the top LBs available on the open market. He's one of the best coverage LBs in the entire league and fits what Matt Eberflus likes at the position at either MIKE or WILL.

PFF contract projection: 1-year, $6m avg/yr ($5m guaranteed, $6 total)

  • DT Poona Ford
The Cowboys are extremely thin at DT and Ford would provide some much-needed depth and a potential starter. He was one of the top graded DTs last year according to PFF and is a disruptive player who would fit in nicely in Matt Eberflus' defense.

They are affordable and don't waste top team talent in extended rebuild. The costs are projected and not doing Martin, dropping LB Clark, and S Wilson gives additional cap.

The thing with Golston is.....You can find his replacement fairly easily this year....With Osa....replacing him would be hard. Like I said....I would transition tag him for the 1 year....@ 17. Buy yourself some time.....then load up in the draft w/ those 5th round picks. Some of the of kids I think we could be targeting....

Why, the rebuild is a dumb fan's remedy. The defensive line is important here and now and they both are strong veterans.

The Dallas Cowboys will have roughly $2.5 million in salary cap space heading into the new league year​

With the fine folks at Over The Cap splitting the difference and projecting the 2025 salary cap at $279.5 million, the Cowboys would have $2,471,944 in cap space heading into the new league year (we're not capitalizing).

Redoing Lamb, Prescott, and Parsons will give the team over $70 M and makes doing that quite possible and needed as well.

Alternative

Buckner would provide immediate impact for the Cowboys on the interior, which would help free up the nuclear missile that is All-Pro Micah Parsons. He has played in 141 out of a possible 148 games during his career with 136 starts, and there's no substitute for availability. Buckner has two years left on his deal with a base salary of $13 million in each. That's less than what the Cowboys would have to pay for a quality free agent.

Dallas needs to go against their usual philosophy of sitting back and pick up the phone to see what it would take to get Buckner, and give Eberflus another key defender to build his new defense around.
