Adding a quality LBer lke Carpenter opposite Ware makes our defense instantly better. Not to mention a true FS in Watkins. We can unwrap some real blitz schemes this year (assuming Zimmer has any) because we have 4 excellent starting LBers and a safety who can (potentially) cover some one.
Adding a dynamic returner like Green is a huge improvement over Crayton. Don't discount his receiving skills either.
Adding more depth at DE and DT is a big plus for us. If Hatcher and Carpenter both pan out and we see some natural improvement from Spears, Ware and Canty going into their second years we could have the makings of a very young, very dominant front 7.
Adding a second high quality TE gives Bledose one more excellent option, gives opposing DCs one more thing to worry about, and the switch to a 2 TE base gives some help to the Oline, maybe more so than actually drafting an Olineman who probably wouldn't start this year anyway.
Not to mention we added a huge threat in TO, added Ayodele (although that's a bit of a wash with losing Dat) and the leagues most accurate kicker.
We got *MUCH* better this off-season, including the draft. If you take the whole off-season into acount, I think we did a lot better than the Patriots, who lost some key players and their kicker.
Unfortunately, so did the rest of the NFCE, but I can't find a lot of fault in this offseason at all, other than maybe depending on Kosier to replace LA.
