Is it really hedging a bet? There would be a considerable difference if Dez had a better QB. Dez and Mariotta could surprise some people, but playing in Tennessee isn't exactly a WR wonderland. 23rd in passing yards, 30th in passing TDs. Cowboys 18/26. It doesn't seem like an ideal landing spot? Maybe Dez and Dion Lewis could improve that, but it's still the Titans. lol If Dez wants to really produce, I don't think Ten. is the place to do that.
Well since Dez has a plethora of options (as some of you suggest) then he should have a really good situation at his disposal to choose from. In that instance he would be either taking the money over the situation (which would not be in his best interests) or the more likely scenario is that no team of any consequence really wants him.
It would be better for Dez to: 1. play for free to get on a really good team to help him redeem himself or get a ring OR 2. Go to a team with zero good receivers and get them to force him the ball and artificially inflate his stats because he still can't get open.
If he is really avoiding training camp as some have suggested, then he is dumber than even I thought he was before. You can't fix that kind of stupid.
I don't believe Dez currently has very many options available to him. I think he is saving face, waiting on a camp injury. Don't be surprised if he eventually says he just "doesn't have the passion for it anymore" and never plays another down of football.
