... to play your cards for thrre games and accept a player healing up for the end run of a 16 game season?

With the NFC East 9-7 may end up being another offseason sit down. We have a tough start to our schedule. If we don't fare well coming out of the gate we may not need Vanderjagt for the remaining games if we are mathematically eliminated.

We may not have control over what has happen to our kickers, but it doesn't mean we have to complicitely accept it.

Heal in September to win in December? Sounds like a recipe the Bengals have used for decades. Sure doesn't sound like any Cowboys team I know.
Wow, I just now realized that the beginning of your sentences are in the title. It had me scratching my head for a minute. Why on earth would you do that?

...if these are both the same circumstances? Reports say that Vanderjagt's had a recurring groin injury for the past two years. That's not so good for a kicker. Bentley's never had a major knee problem till this year's unfortunate incident.

There is a legitimate question in the Vandy situation as to how healthy was he when he was signed and how much of a true problem has this groin been?

BTW, you may call it the first game, but it one of only 16. I wouldn't think that BP would let such a thought slide through his mind. Unlike all other major sports leagues every game in the NFL is important and you need your best squad out there to squeeze out wins. It makes no sense to play for the next week, you play for now!

Walking into your third consecutive season with a sore groin is not a good thing. If you dont' think it's a problem please review Vanderjagt's last public statements. He says he has no answer to what is happening to him???

Reports? By who? I don't recall him on the injury report before. And if it the injury was there before it sure didn't effect him much the last two years did it? I never claimed to be BP by the way. I'm a fan who is not going to get all worked up game one. You and all the other closet GMs/coaches can do that thanks.

I'm don't disagree with that but after all is said and done and FA over and the season has started then performace is all I care about not all the what if or how much money this guy make over that guy. I'm the same with the draft I don't waste a lot of time and energy talking about guys we could have gotten I'm only interested in the guys we did get and how they perform. You are also right about that is how most GM and coaches get fired but I will say this team I highly doubt Jerry is going to fire himself anytime soon.

... I disagreed with is the belief that he got his money because of his history. If his history, "most accurate kicker in NFL", is considered a positive. Shouldn't recurring groin problems the past two years, also part of his history, be a part of the negatives?

I argued earlier in FA that I thought Longwell with his history of kicking in Lambeau would represent the best deal for the Cowboys. Guy had a chance to come here and kick in a more friendly environment. Brought with him experience kicking outdoors on grass. Finally, may possibly come at a cheaper rate allowing us more flexibility in free agency to pursue others.

Without sounding like a "hater" contrary opinions, minus the nastiness, offers a different look on this forum to what the heard may want or have even considered.

... from the old DMN. Dates back to 94 on the DMN. I think most people know me for this. Apologies for the irritation it may cause.

It evidently never affected him in the past and this history I'm talking about is his history of making FG and that is what got him the big pay day. As I said I don't care about anything he has done before he got to Dallas only concern is what he does in Dallas. As for Longwell I think he is a very good kicker as well and would have had no issue had Dallas signed him but again I don't worry about what we did not get only concern is who we got. I don't cry over spilled milk who we have is who we have I don't sit here and say what if we got him instead. We didn't get Longwell so we move on with what we do have. I just hope Vandy can show himself in the end

i'll take my chances with S.S. for now.

Parcells’ decision isn’t final, but he said he does not want to use two roster spots on a kicker for Sunday’s game.

“I’ve just seen (Suisham) do a little bit more right now and I’m not sure about Mike physically exactly based on what he said after (the preseason finale),” Parcells said. “Mike kicked pretty good today in terms of numbers and we’ll see where we are. I could change my mind, but I think my plans are to go with Suisham.”

Prior to this quote the article refers to an "NFL a source", sounds like Vanderjagt's agent to me, who claims Mike to be healthy.

BP not liking what Mike did in PreSeason, BP wanting to send a message to Mike or BP concerned about the field position game? Who knows, but it looks like our new FA kicker is sitting down and it really isn't about an injury.

...peek at our schedule I see a difficult opening stretch. We don't need him in December after he recovers from injury and/or other problems, we need him now.

Jags and Skins in Sept. The Giants bookend a difficult 7 game stretch from October to the end of November. By the time we get to the Saints, Falcons and the Lions our year could be over.

I would highly suggest he show up sooner than later.

Hmm, Lets see we're 7-3, and going into the home strech do you want

A) a Healthy Mike Vadnerjagt with the 87.5 accuacry

or B) a still injured mike vanderjagt because we deceid that he MUST play in the first game of the season, when there arre 15 other games to be played, in order to prove he's not a FA Bust

I love it when people go jumping off the cliffs in September, because they'll be the same people in Febuaray after Vandy hits the game WInning FG, after a TO catch and run, saying they told everyone that they've been on the Cowboys winning the SB since we signed those two.

SEriously you guys are idiots, if your worried about injurys in september

Pitt was 7-5, going into the last 4 games, and Won the SB. I seriously see no reason to risk the end of the year, just because you guys are scared of losing one freaking game in September.

... the idiot comment is out of bounds. If it's intelligence quotient you want to compare I'm sure I could oblige with some alarming results.

Second, I think it was abundantly clear in Mac Engel's article that the discussion/Parcells quote shows Vandy's problem is no longer about an injury, but clearly something else.

Unless you are Karnak that something else may result in not seeing Vandy in February because there will be no February.

What puzzles me is the thinking that a late run in the season is a guarantee to the Super Bowl or the playoffs. Pitt was 7-5, but don't forget the important part of your statement - we have to win SEVEN games.

You win the games now, not later. If you can't understand that then playing or watching sports is not for you. Hopefully that premise gets me out of your "idiot" label.

it wont be a close game so i'm not concerned. we will be scoring TD's instead of FG's. I guess maybe we should be worried if he can make EP's but he's not Cortez so i'm not worried about that either.
