Suisham? Really?

Why are we working this guy out?
Don't they realize the Skins cut him for the same reason we want to replace Folk?
He missed the gamewinner against the Saints in Washington.

What's the point?

*edit*
I'm not saying we should keep Folk as an alternative. I'm saying, isn't there something better out there?

He is 18/21 on the season.

Maybe he can't make a clutch kick, but Folk can't even make the non-clutch ones right now.

Kickers miss occasionally but when they miss nine kicks in season they are a liability.

Suisham is an above average kicker that was scapegoated by the insecure and imploding Commanders.

The defense gave up the lead and then let he Saints drive down in OT not Suisham.

What's the point of starting a totally new thread about this?

There are about a half a dozen threads on kickers already.

However, to indulge your point, we're looking at any and all alternatives to sticking with a kicker who has clearly lost his confidence.

Though not a fan of his, he was 18-21 .. they cut him because ..

1) the Commanders season was over
2) sends a message, though somewhat weak, that if you fail to produce/execute, you're gone
3) the chance to knock off an undefeated team was the last real big game for the Commanders this season
4) the team and fans focused all of their disappointment for the season on the easy target .. the guy who lost the game for them that had no impact on their playoff chances.

.. and I'm not picking on the Commanders fans or players .. we would have done the same thing had we been in their shoes. Every week we win, you hear the fans/media say "resign/keep <insert player/coach here>" and every week we lose, they say "cut/fire <insert player/coach here> immediately!"

Folk's confidence is totally shot. Suisham might not be the clutch kicker we'd like to have but he's pretty reliable on common kicks. I think suisham is the obvious choice here, Im sure he'd love to have a chance to play again with his old team , and to play in the playoffs.

I agree with previous posters here. So he missed one clutch kick? He has indeed been pretty reliable overall.

The point would be to get a kicker that can make field goals. Duh....

I thought that would be obvious.

Not exactly a treasure trove of pro-bowl kickers without flaws out there to choose from...because if they were flaw free they would not be out there right now.

So you give another guy a shot that might miss a FG or two vs the guy on the team right now that misses more than a few.

Not rocket surgery...yes I meant to type that.

Suisham has hit 86% of his FG attempts while Nick is at 64%. If Suisham comes in and does well at his workout sign him.

As bb said in an earlier thread, the snap and the whole operation looked messed up on the Skins-Saints game choke kick. He should still probably make that one from that close, but he was hardly the only one at fault there.

I'm all for Suisham. I think he's a pretty decent kicker, at least for what's available right now.

As a rocket surgeon I take exception to this remark.

And Lord knows I'm never wrong.;) You're not gonna find any studs on the market in late December, so I won't bash the Boys for signing Suisham. The powers that be have no choice but to make the best of a bad situation.

Yeah, but if they were to win, all they would hear is "it was the annual Cowboys December collapse" so it won't get near the attention nor would it generate the bragging rights that they could have had being the first team to beat the Saints this season.

He missed the gamewinner against the Saints in Washington.

What's the point?

because no one can be worse than Folk right now

because we are desperate and there are few options

because of the old addage about "sometimes a change of scenery...."

because it will be a stop gap measure which can be the difference between making the playoffs and not making the playoffs
