Sunday's loss could be good for Cowboys

given the fact that the 49ers will almost certainly win the nfc west and the fact that the seahawks look like a pretty solid team, we could very well be fighting the seahawks for a wildcard spot. this loss just cost us the #1 tiebreaker against them. so no, i don't really consider this loss a good thing.

They got knocked down but did not get knocked out. They are sitting in the corner getting Vaseline smeared around their face and other places, but, let's wait for round three.

If it was a prize fight the Cowboys were KO'd yesterday. The NFL season isn't a prize fight teams play 16 games even when they're down and out. A boxing analogy doesn't work for the NFL.

Well, I'm basing my analogy on a 16 round fight.

They have 14 more rounds to go. So far, they are not out of the fight.

This is something losers say. No loss is a good loss and a team that has had the history this one has over the last few years shouldn't need a tough loss to "wake them up."

After the beating the Cowboys took yesterday I wouldn't use a boxing analogy. I would use a track analogy that the NFL season isn't a sprint it's a marathon. The Cowboys came out of the blocks fast but stumbled and are limping. Fortunately the finish line is a long way off and there's time for them to shake it off and recover.

Your analogy works just fine...

Another analogy would be "it ain't over until the fat lady sings".

;)

Compared to baseball or basketball, the NFL is a sprint. There are only 16 games and every one of them counts. You can lose 15 in a row in baseball and still be ok, but lose 4 in a row in football, chances are you are done if you are an average team (few exceptions).

If sticking to the track analysis, I would compare it to a 1500m run. You can start off slower than the pack, but you need to step it up soon or the race will be over before you know it.

Nice...

And the Giants did just that last season.

We said that after Minnesota and Philly too when they embarrassed us. I agree that in reality, this should motivate them but as we have seen in the past, prove it to me before I buy into that.

That is what a coach is for - he takes the reasons why we lost and create a strategy or plan on how to overcome our weaknesses from the lost. The coach should not have an approach that because we lost all we need to do is practice harder and player harder. No - a lost should be taken as stepping stone to success. If we stay stuck to what we've been doing in the past and rely on all we have to do is get better, than unfortunately, I doubt anything will happen and complete breakdowns from the Seahawk's game will occur once more.

If we don't change for the better, we should just get out and get out of the way of others that will.

With the way Felix has been looking it's best to pick an analogy that doesn't include the word fat. :)

Nah. I don't buy it. We've heard this excuse with these core players too many times. There was nothing good about this loss.
