NOT win.....pre-season mode. Never thought of this until my neighbor ( Eagle fan ) mentioned and it makes sense ( he made some good points ). Remember odds makers gave us only a 1% chance of getting the No. 1 seed and I think an 8% for No.2. In other words, there was almost no chance of the Giants and Cards winning. Here's the question he asked......what if both games were played at 1:00 instead 4:00 and we knew before the game they both won. How many starters do you think would have missed the game? Once it was clear during the week that the Giants were resting their starters vs Eagles A team the priority probably shifted from going all out to win vs avoiding injuries. Guess what, that's exactly the way we played....... does this make any sense.

It does make sense. The Cowboys will put this game behind them, and load up for next week. Hopefully we can get some guys off of the injury report and go in to Tampa and take care of business.

the starters played for reps and to look atleast decent before being pulled
McCarthy wouldve probably pulled them if they went up 14-13 but hey it is what it is

i know the starters themselves were playing not to be injured because it looked like it

If that is the case then McCarthy should be fired for having no control and putting them at risk. A lot of us knew the game was going to be meaningless, especially since NYG had nothing to play for. We wanted them to sit a lot of players who didn't need to be out there. If you still send your key starters out there to "not try" then they can still get hurt. You saw how Parsons almost got an injury trying to get a sack. It's not like Washington is going to just play flag football out there

But I don't buy it...they wanted to try and pad stats against what they thought would be an easy opponent (just like last year at Philly)

Once it became obvious the Giants were resting starters.....we had damn near zero chance of winning the division. Don't think for a second that coaches and players didn't know what was going on.

What do you think coaches would have done if both Eagles and 49ers games were at 1:00 and they knew the scores?

While the Cowboys team may very well have been mentally checked out because of knowing the Giants were playing their backups against the Eagles. It still wouldn't explain why the starters were in for most of the game.

Maybe Mike was pissed and was putting his foot down and demanded a better effort

Coz they played the same time slot......so you had no guarantee the results of Eagles game

Nice try putting some perfume on some crap.....still smells like crap. Why do some people here keep making excuses for this team? They get enough coddling from Jerry and the FO.

If that was the goal then the starters should have been on the sidelines watching instead of playing.
there's a good chance they would have been if the Eagles game was earlier....
