Sunlight causes glare on the videoboard so... the roof stays closed

The story I heard was they ran out of money to complete the roof.

Neither this story nor the other (it would not hold the weight) make any sense.

The stadium was designed with the hole from the beginning.

Changes like throwing in a hole into the middle of a roof are not just made halfway through the construction process.

No way it's because it causes a glare in the luxury boxes, the screen is angled in such a way as to make that physically impossible (to see true glare you must view at an opposing angle to the light source, impossible with the roof the way it is). Now, sunlight might wash out the screen making it harder to see - very possible. I was at the game, and we wondered why it wasn't open, perhaps the rains from the previous days made them just plan to keep it closed.

I'll say this, if they open it during a game, someone needs to get on the stadium PA system and say:

"Commence primary ignition"

lol

against the giants it felt that way when they were opening it. They made a huge deal out of opening it!

someone also should have told jerry that night that
"We have analyzed their attack and their is a threat....should we have your ship standing by?"

Maybe Schramm wasn't lying after all.

Wasn't suggesting that at all. Just that the most widespread story about Texas Stadium roof is

the stadium could not support the weight of the entire roof, and public funding ran out before the roof support structure could be modified

That's what I've read and heard for years. Nothing about it being part of the original design. I'll be willing to accept that logic, just that most stories I've read about the roof are just the opposite of what you suggested.

I told Jerry that the LCD was better because Plasma wasnt as good with ambient or exterior lighting because of glare problem.

:lmao:

I just meant I wouldn't put it past Schramm to spin it his way.

Either way, it would be interesting to know the real story.

I have heard the same thing...they are going to probably have to wait until after the season to find a solution, if any can be found.
Clearly, Jerra must pay the sun to not shine on specific times.

Let's see: the roof can't be opened in August or September because that would prevent them from cranking the AC. And the roof can't be opened on a sunny day in late November because ...
