Super Bowl LIX Game Thread

Been watching Super Bowls for longer than a lot of people alive.

People always complaining no matter who is performing. Can't say I've seen more than 5 minutes of any halftime show EVER without turning it off LOL (always record the game and before smart phones, just come back to see when it's back on and rewind if I missed anything).

Only regret was I didn't stay tuned into Janet and Justin.
Exactly, I don't complain about any halftime show. Some I watch some I don't. They have had something for everyone over the years.

The Super Bowl is not about football anymore. The SB is a pop culture event. People talk more about the commercials, half time show, and which celebrities attended than they do about the game after it is over. This is what the NFL wants. Core football fans make up a small percentage of those that watch the game. Ad revenues are what they are because all the non-core fans watch. We hate when cameras pan over to Taylor Swift, but the NFL loves it because Swift fans tune in just to catch those 2 second glimpses of her rooting for her boyfriend.

As a football fan, I think what the NFL is doing to its product is horrible, but from a business perspective, look how they are raking in money for all the stupid stuff I hate as a fan. It is a business after all so money talks. I suspect it will get worse.

One other thing winning does bring out...

Doesn't make your FA picks look to bad or people don't concentrate on how they weren't really productive.

Roseman can do no wrong, but they picked some clunkers this year that really didn't turn out like they wanted. That said, you need to go out and get more than just a couple to have some actually work out like you planned because you can never pick 100% right all the time not knowing the future.
Every one of the 2022, 2023 & 2024 Eagles draft picks are currently on the team. Not a clunker in the bunch..

I wasn't talking about draft picks, but players they picked up on free agency.

The reality is if you're human, no one is immune to making a mistake.

Thing is, since the eagles won the superbowl, no one looks at their free agency mistakes, they look at what they did right.

Look at Jerry who plays it safe because IMO he doesn't want to put the time and work in and look at everyone in the draft and free agency (because he's both the general manager AND owner), and he (Jerry) gets crucified because even though they have a winning season, he can't get his team over the hump to make a run in the playoffs.

Two teams blown out in the first round playoffs (eagles and cowboys), and two different approaches to get "over the hump" to make a long run to the superbowl.

Thing is, it takes more risk and money IMO to get over the hump, and I'm certain Jerry is afraid to take those risks (why I have no clue because he or the team isn't lacking for money to spend on players), and it's shown over the last 20 plus years per the cowboys.

They (cowboys) win, but that can't make a run for the superbowl because Jerry has the most valuable team in the NFL.

If I were Jerry's son, I'd ask him how much are you will to lose to invest more into your team to win the superbowl, and if you won the superbowl, how much more valuable would your team be? I'd think that alone would be worth the investment.

Laurie of the eagles has it right... he pays someone smarter than himself to run the business LOL

Oh you mean Saquon Barkley. Zack Baun, C.J. Gardner-Johnson, Mekhi Becton, and Bryce Huff are the clunkers..I get it now.

Two out of those five names you listed most likely won't be back.

Of course Barkley will be back due to his contract and what he did this year.

Baun and Becton may or may not be back depending on how much money they want, and what the eagles are willing to give them.

EVERY year is a headache for a GM of a NFL team. Kind of headaches that Jerry would rather pass off to someone else IMO because it requires work and negotiations...

I had a guy come to my house selling encyclopedias. I still have the whole set in my old bedroom. Funny, I used to use them for some homework assignments in the 70s. I probably have things stashed between the pages, still.
Oh,...nice trick. I "stashed thing" inside my childhood stuffed animals. My mon never noticed their ever increasing B-Hole diameters

You made me look.

Hunt played for the Houston Christian Huskies. Picked 94th in the draft. Apparently Hunt was the first player out of that school ever picked up in the NFL draft.

We all know Roseman is good at his job, but the grunts working under Roseman finding these guys bringing them to their teams attention has to be doing a remarkable job.

Jerry needs to take notes. Common sense dictates that good players want to play for someone who wants to make a superbowl run. The question becomes if winning means just having a winning season or winning means making a superbowl run... I do think this is where winning playoff games breeds success if the team can stay on top of their players. I mean what kid coming out of college wouldn't want to play for the Chiefs under Andy Reid?

That said, perhaps it's just luck who picks who and how the players play out. Did come across this third party read on the 2024 draft. We all know hindsight is a perfect science LOL. Did find it interesting where they rated the cowboys...

True , hindsight is bliss , LOL

But philly has been doing this for a while the trench game is always recognized there and resources were put in , Cowboys of late have been doing well on OL but its their DL always bad. May be we needed a Def minded HC . No guarantees of course

yes to all the above - i could not believe how terrible the halftime show was. Despite the game being a blowout, it would have at least been nice to see a decent half time show...it was so bad. I like all kinds of music but that guy flat out sucked and it was just terrible.
Could have done a nice jazz festival to celebrate the city getting through the terrorist attack....but nope....just had to....turn it into a crap fest.

Lol at quoting me hours after the game is over. Lame and weak.

When you look in the mirror every day all you see is lame.

Lol at 178 posts. Go back to your hole troll
Someone is a little sensitive. Saying they were gifted all there points even at that stage was delusional. I responded to the post at the time I read it. How does 178 post mean anything? I am here a lot just do not post a lot. If you actually read any of my post you would see I’m not a troll. I like also what I see in the mirror. :)

Less than 200 posts in almost 7 years, get lost troll and go back to the Eagles forum. You bring nothing except troll posts.

IN FACT less than 200 posts in almost 7 years, that's called A TROLL.
That is your opinion and it’s a weak one at that. I like to read others opinions and “like” the ones I agree with. On the limited post I write,I get along most people on here. You are probably the first person ever to call me a troll and used my post count as the reason . By the way you said I was delusional when I said hurts was only 26. What that you being a troll! Legit question?

I touched a nerve with the troll. :lmao:

Any way, I am ending this so others do not have to read any more of this pointless back and forth. You can get the last word if it makes you feel better.
