Super Bowl "rigged"?

go around different message boards and almost everyone is talking about how horrible the refs were, even some Pitt fans admit which is amazing
True. I won't argue that. But I have to say, the two biggest calls (that I remember) I thought were made correctly on the field. The Seattle TD pass that wasn't and Big Ben's TD that was.

(Can't say I'm the best judge. I was at a SB party, so I didn't see everything.)

Wow! You guys spend an entire season railing on Skin fans for whining about the refs (which, admittedly, they have) and then watch the Super Bowl and talk about how bad the reffing has been all year?

I had nothing at stake in this game ...
Zebras did a horrible job , hopefully not intentional

It wasn't fixed but the refereeing was very one sided.

That wasn't a push off on Jackson and Roethlisberger didn't get into the end zone.

You have to to be kidding. You mean to tell me that the NFL has this HUGE conspiracy to fix all the games and put said team into and win the SB. Get real. Brother - you really need to get out more.

I tire of people who blame others because what they want does not transpire. I could care less who won.

On that TD w/ Big Ben in the 2nd. There was no conclusive evidence the ball did not touch the goal-line.

That is why Levy didnt take it away.

I don't think the refs kept the ball away from Shaun Alexander..you know, the NFL MVP?

I don't think the refs punted into the endzone 4 times.

I don't think the refs ran that 2 min offense at the end of both halves.

This loss falls squarely on the shoulders of the Seahawks. They had their chances and really should've won that Super Bowl.
How about throwing the ball just a foot too far towards the side line on 3 deep balls to push the recievers out of bounds.

Maybe the refs had something to do with Seattles kicker missing 2 FG's, yes, that's it!

That is the cowardly way out of it and Leavy took it, but it was clear to me that the ball never crossed goal line and it should have been to him too.

I have to disagree on Big Ben's TD. I think he got in. The ball must cross the FRONT of the white line ... which I thought it did clearly. Not sure what all the fuss is about in that one.

I agree with you that there wasn't enough evidence to take away the TD, but did you see how late the call was. He ran a good 10 yards before signaling. If he would have called no TD, that call also would have been upheld.

Also, it wouldn't take this huge conspiracy to "fix" games. One official could heavily influence the outcome. Two could almost assure the spread, especially in this watered down parity league.

It wasn't even close to crossing.

Anyway, I hate the nickname Big Ben, actually I don't hate it, I just laugh at it since Big Ben was the name of a Canadian Olympic show jumping horse.

Its the SB for crying out loud. If there is no proof (solid) then how do you overturn the TD?

Going into the half they had Levy and Holmgren exchanging words on that call. Levy even told Holmgren that he was in for that TD. Least to say - Holmgren didnt see it that way. He didnt see it at all actually. He was going by what his booth told him.

BTW: I may be wrong on this. The ball does not need to go over the goal line. It needs to break the plane of the goal. I think this being that it only needs to touch the white line (which is part of the goal-area).

Yeah it is the Super Bowl for crying out loud and as a result, it never should have been called a TD in the first place AND after it was, given it was clear it never broke the plane, it should have been overturned.

The line judge made the right call. Even after the man reviews it was never overturned. Im not a Steelers fan or anything but from what I saw the ball did break the plane prior to contact w/ the helmet of the Seahawk player.

Totufuatu? What is that kids name again?

I think the right call was made. There was not conclussive evidence to over turn that call. That TD came down to milimeters and there is no way that anybody could have made the correct call in real time, and we still couldn't see 100% if it was in or not.

And I thought I was the only one who thought there were several vital questionable calls that went against the Seahawks. Even my wife who is not a big football fan was screaming about some of the calls. Did the Steelers have any penalties after their first offensive series? I don't recall any.

I agree completely. My wife does also.

For the record Pittsburgh had 3 penalities for 20 yards.

I rarely agree with you, but on this I could not agree more.

No conspiracy, no agendas, just the better team won.
