I think that was an excellent job this super bowl. BUT it was two East coast teams. Remember the Super Bowl that Pittsburgh played and they basically handed them that trophy on a yellow flagged silver platter. With that in mind, I dont think they would have allowed the Boys to beat the NFL's Golden Child. They would have called the Boys for every nick nack penalty. Well, thats what was going through my mind watching the game. I was watching and thinking--- " they would have called that, called that, called that , made that up, etc.

It wouldn't have been the refs fault that Gurode would've been throwing shotgun snaps so slow that it appears the entire offensive line is offsides every play.

My my. Since the theory that the refs were hand picked to make sure that Roger, and the league, got what they wanted, a New England win, has been blown out of the water now we're going to speculate that had it been Dallas, instead of the G-Men, then the refs would have cheated to make sure the Patriots won. But since it wasn't Dallas there then it was ok to let the game be decided by the play on the field.

Unbelievable.

How many times does it need repeating:

All eyes were on the NFL in light of the Specter controversy. The Walsh tapes story also broke, and the possibility of the Patriots taping the walk-through of the Rams did also.

For the NFL to call an uneven game for the Patriots in light of all this would be just plain stupidity on their part.

Do people really believe the games are fixed and the officials are there to carry it out?

Beat me to it:laugh2:

Funny that nobody has said anything (that I have seen anyways) about the push off by Toomer on his long catch down the sidelines. I thought that one was pretty obvious.

Once again. Poetic justice. I can name at least six different times this season where Moss blatantly pushed off for a TD grab.

I think the refs by and large do a good job. Do they miss calls yes but go out and try to do their jobs and see how often fans come down on you regarding missed calls. It is not an easy job and they do the best they can. I don't think the refs care who wins the game they are there just as the player to do a job.

I was shocked the let Toomer get away with a big time push off on that sideline catch.

a push off or hands to the face could have been called.

Well, yeah! Look, just because I'm paranoid, it doesn't mean that everyone's NOT out to get me!

That, and there was an obvious blow to the head on Brady down near his own goal-line that was not called.

That surprised me.

I wondered about the contact with the head. One could look at every call of a blow to the head over the year and see if was in line with them. As a fan just assume the a Cowboys' defender with have gotten a flag.

While there might've been some questionable calls not made, I think overall they called a good game. They let the players decide the game. There was some mugging going on on both sides...and considering the penalty yards assessed to each team were virtually the same, neither team really should complain.

Yea, they did do a good job. I am sure it is harder than it looks.

We see things every game that could get called but don't, and we see things that get called that we think shouldn't.

Without a doubt it's harder than it looks. They're watching it once, in real time, and watching more than one person. It's easy for fans to be angry when they get the benefit of replays and focus soley on the people in question, rather than having to keep their eyes on entire sections of the field.

Refs are human. They make mistakes and make bad calls sometimes. It happens. But this notion that the NFL actually sets out to fix games by sending in certain teams to actually force one team to lose to another is beyond silly and quite frankly just plain stupid.

I'm not totally in agreement with that.

We all know money rules EVERYTHING, ... EVERYTHING! in this world.

I am not so sure that we would be naive to believe that money does not impact the NFL as well, .. in some ways, in some games.

The Seahawks/Steelers SB was extreme and seemed bizarre.
