Fri, 22 Feb 2008 14:17:02 -0800
University of Texas RB Jamaal Charles weighed in at the 2008 NFL Scouting Combine Friday, Feb. 22, at 5-foot-11 and 200 pounds. Charles said his fastest 40-yard dash was 4.1 seconds. Charles also stated that he would love to stay in the state of Texas and play for the Houston Texans or Dallas Cowboys.:D

I'm liking this Jamaal Charles, everything I read about him sounds good

though I doubt he runs a 4.1

Until he opens his mouth right?

I'm on board with Charles, if he runs a freaking 4.1x though, he will not last till our pick in the 2nd round.

that would be fast
He eats the new Wheaties made with HGH. Very tasty if you like the flavor of cough medicine for breakfast.

he was a top level track star......but nobody runs a 4.1

well i doubt he would run a 4.1, however if for some freak accident he did how high would that rank him? would it be enough to propel him into the top half of the first round instead of the 2nd and 3rd round where he is projected to go now?

any thoughts?

I hope you're kidding.

No way he runs a 4.1 and i dont believe he's ever, even once, ran a 4.1

That is just insane.

Primetime Deion Sanders (I believe) ran the fastest 40 time in scouting combine history and didn't run 4.1.

Dang, what's the recievers name for Dallas afew years back that ran a kickoff back for a td? Great natural talent but just was not a football player. He claimed to run a 4.19:confused: (Eagles game)

yeah he was here in the early nineties, I believe it was. Never panned out.

Wouldn't be shocked if he ran in the 4.2 - 4.3's. The guy has pure speed, but couldn't stay healthy. He's the fastest guy in college this year.

I'm sure he didn't run 4.1

There is no official world record for 40 yards.

The shortest distance that the IAAF, track and field's international governing body, recognizes for world-record purposes is an indoor 50 meters, or about 54 yards. It is 5.56 seconds and it was set by Canadian sprinter Donovan Bailey in 1996. There is also a world record for 60 meters -- 6.39 seconds by American Maurice Greene in 1998.

But it is another Canadian, Ben Johnson, who is believed to have run 40 yards faster than any human in history. Johnson is best known for injecting copious amounts of steroids and winning the 100 meters at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul in 9.79 seconds, only to have his gold medal and world record stripped after failing a post-race drug test.

Timing officials have since broken down that famed race into 10-meter increments, and Johnson was so preposterously fast that he went through 50 meters in 5.52 seconds and 60 meters in 6.37 -- both under the current world records at those distances. He went through 40 yards that day in 4.38 seconds.

He was running in spikes . . . on a warm afternoon perfectly suited for sprinting . . . with a slight tailwind . . . with years of training from arguably track's top coach, Charlie Francis . . . with Carl Lewis and six others of the fastest men on the planet chasing him . . . with 69,000 people roaring at Seoul's Olympic Stadium . . . with hundreds of millions of people watching on TV . . . with the ultimate prize in sports, an Olympic gold medal, at stake.

you're thinking of randall williams. i think i saw him in a raiders uniform not too long ago but not sure if he's still in football at this point.

i am on board getting charles in the 2nd round. if he runs a sub 4.4 he'll be a perfect compliment to the bruising style of marion barber. forget all this mcfadden trade talk already. then, let's use our 1st round picks to trade for a veteran receiver and draft a CB.

You can't believe this completely because we know that there are football players who run 4.35 (See Vick, DeAngelo Hall, Randall Williams? and a few others). That being said, I seriously doubt 4.1 myself. :starspin
