Watched the latest show, and red kryptonite was introduced. She walks by it, and it effects her. Still, the next day she is still under the influence, even though It's not near her body anymore. I thought kryptonite had to be near the body or in the skin to work. In Smallville, Clark wore a class ring with red kryptonite. Thus, it was near him so he was infected. Once he took it off, he was ok.

Bad scripts are the real kryptonite for the Kryptonian crew, and have been for decades.

Maybe there is an underlying rationale, but more likely the writers are pulling it out from where the sun don't shine.
